Re: digital - preferred recording level?

I used to kill myself trying to record everything as close to the peak before clipping. And then when I would record like a demo or something I didn't really care about, I would notice that I couldn't really tell the difference between the two. So I agree with all the others that you should leave so...

Re: other recording magazines that you guys read?

Obviously TapeOp is the best of em all. But inbetween issues, I'd say Sound on Sound is good as they've had interviews on a lot of artists that a lot of American magazines haven't been able to get. Plus they have this cool feature where the editors go to their readers homes and give them tips and id...

Re: OK so whats the song you're most ashamed to admit you Lo

"How Deep Is Your Love?" by the Bee Gee's. Actually, any of the dancey ones by the Bee-Gee's. No matter what you think of em, their songs typically have pretty cool chord arrangements. And yeah, that new one by Enrique Inglesias (however you spell it) (Dammit, why did I have to use my real name as m...

I know you guys wanted to do the charity thing, but c'mon, it was such short notice Short notice? US: *ring* *ring* *ring* THEM: "hello, Portland Food Bank" US: "Hi w...

Re: Thanks From Larry Crane

Oh forgot to mention: Thanks to you Larry and the rest of the TapeOp crew for all your efforts with the magazine. It really does mean a lot to all of us. Looking forward to your seminar in April.

Happy New Years!

Re: Thanks From Larry Crane

with all due respect to larry and the wonderful job he's doing..I thought we as a community were going to make a charity contribution in the name of tapeop rather than giving something to Larry that he probably doesn't need to survive .I'm really disappointed harley Ditto that. Full props to Larry,...

Re: Fostex D2424LV or Alesis HD24 ?

Here's a question for your Alesis owners: virtual tracks. Do you simply not use them? Is there a workaround that works as well as virtual tracks? I ask because as someone who's learned on DAW mixing, they're essential to my working style, and seem to be one of the great "convenience" advantages ove...

Re: 1176 Love: (By myself like always)

Since everybody is praising the 1176, I thought I'd just take the opportunity to say that I'm selling mines in the Buy/Sell area. Although I must say that reading everybody's posts is making me start to cry at the thought of parting with it (I need the cash). I agree with Joel in that the 1176 sound...

Re: Anolog guy wants a 24 track hard disk, Maybe?

Hey, I might actually be selling my Alesis HD 24 if you want a used one (great product, just need the cash) A few months back before I bought the Alesis HD 24, I did a lot of research on the diff HDR's and if you decide to go with the Mackie ones, make sure you don't get the cheaper model as I belie...

Allen and Heath MixWizard 16:2DX Mixer for sale

Here's the link: This mixer is like new. I only bought it early November of this year (I can provide receipt) and was initially going to be keeping it long-term. But due to financial difficulties, I have to sell it to help finance our band's first full length release early next year. http://cgi.ebay...
