Re: My big WTB list! check it!
Hi Blue, I'm actually selling my UREI 1176 reissue. My band, Edria will be releasing our first full length early next year and we need cash badly to finance the release. But I don't know what you consider a good deal. But I'll try and help anybody who's a Smiths fan. I'll be posting the 1176 with so...

Re: TAPE OP HOLIDAY CHARITY
I think we should donate to an organization that advocates music education in schools. Kids these days are seriously getting screwed out of arts education. Plus, it would nice to have clients in the future :) Sorry, I got in on this thread late. I agree with this completely. I'll bet you a ton of k...

Re: sonic maximizers
i use a maximizer on my vocals for live shows. it helps me cut through the mix and be more intelligible b/c i use all kinds of delay/verb effects and sometimes some distortion and its easy for the lyrics to get lost in the sound. Hey what's up djslayerissick! Just out of curiuosity.. what kind of s...

Re: i love noise
I love running strange noises thru guitar pedals and tweaking them to see what happens. Tried micing the noise off a tv and running that thru pedals. Once went to Ocean Beach in SF to record the ocean in a cave but I freakin dropped my little digital recorded in the water. Yeah, be careful if you ev...

Your ideal room preference...
Just curious what everybody thought made a good sounding room and for what types of applications (drums, vocals, death metal, classical music, etc..) For example in the TapeOp interview with Daniel Lanois, he mentioned that he liked rooms with high ceilings with concrete/hardwood floors (I think tha...

Re: Reverb in the mix
for a very spacey effected sound that is still intelligable and has dynamics: take the original track and make copies. rather than having the delay run through the reverb then through the phaser, etc. load up the copies with your effects individually. that way the reverb trail stays pure. the delay...

Re: all the ppl who track one instrument at a time
Are there just drums and piano in the whole song? I tend to have several layers of guitars and other weird sounds over the drums and bass (and keyboard occasionally) and I usually try and wait until I have all the ingredients before I start analyzing each sound. Who knows? Maybe that piano might sou...

Anybody else have one of these? I've had mines for half a year and I really like it but I was curious how it might sound compared against other preamps like thru a Neve preamp or others. Any feedback, random comments or pictures of dogs with leg warmers gladly welcomed..

Re: Holy crap! I love tape!!! 15ips RULES!
I loooooove what tape does to the kick and bass! So although I use a digital recorder, I've always tried to track the drums and bass to tape before dumping transferring it over to my digital recorder.

Re: Pre-recorded drums and playing live
If you have a bass amp, you can try and plug connect your cd player into that and maybe another amp if that's possible and mike them when you play.. I dunno.. Just an idea. My band almost had to do something similar to that a while back as our drummer liked hitting some of the kick sounds off of thi...
