Re: finding voice over work

Here's a tip....

Use the not-so-fine search function here.

It's pretty discouraging.

Not the search function - I mean it is, but what you'll find is discouraging, after you find it.

Re: anyone familiar with adobe audition?

I use CoolEdit Pro 2.0 which is a close relative. I don't know what's really going on as far as Audition goes, but these guys do:

Re: taping shows at a venue?

How many tracks you got? I tape shows with four tracks if I can get a stereo submix off the board, mix with stereo mics. Three tracks for a mono off the board, stereo mics. Played a gig last fall where the band hired a guy with a HD24 who took a direct off every board channel. Not sure how many - se...

Re: Best guitar amp for bass uses (Traynor or fender)?

One word: Don't.

Cool for recording, maybe, but if you're playing next to a drummer you're gonna hate the sound until you ruin the guitar amp. Get a bass amp or - a bass player.

Re: Natural chorus!

I live near a naval airbase. The sub chasers are big ol' four-prop planes that do excersises all the time over my house. This time of year, if the air is still and the temp below zero, I swear you can hear the individual prop blades slicing the air up there.

Re: hello my baby hello my darlin hellow my rag time gal

Looney Tunes: "One Froggy Evening". My wife got me the Looney Tunes collection DVD (Vol. 2) for a Christmas present. Of interest to Tape-Opers as well as LT fans would be the ability to shut off sound effects and hear just music, and some of the interviews with directors and artists about how they d...

Re: Wind Noise

I've had to wrestle with this, and the only thing I've ever come up with is a high-pass around 80-100hz to make it listenable.

The freqs of wind noises are all over the place! But the high-pass helps.

I wanna know what mics the hurricane reporters use. Some of 'em are unbelievably quiet!

Hey, me too. I send a lot of CDRs out of here with scribbles.

Why not scribbles and my logo?

Re: Doing Live Sound

Lately I do live sound once a year for a bluegrass band outside on a dock by the river. I got the live gig because of the recording gig. So yeah I'm doing both.

When that wind comes up off the river.... seven mics....

I hate that job.
