Leigh, where did you get your helmet fitted? I can't wear mine without the chinstrap.

Re: Who's using electronic drums??

No no no no, wing, man, don't get me wrong. Check it out, I got the SPD-20 when I was living in motel rooms (not what you might think - construction management) and needed portability. Drum kit in one briefcase, fourtrack in another, bass guitar, box of cables/boxes, I was good to go. I'll hold myse...

Re: AKG c1000's as drum overheads

I've got a pair I use for drum OH - "shrill", maybe, but they work OK for me. I used 'em for live OH once and that might be right where they belong, they sounded great. I've used 'em once for about everything. They were the only thing I had for a while. Put 'em in the right place and they'll sound g...

Re: Who's using electronic drums??

I've got the SPD-20 and it's got cool sounds and takes a beating, but two annoying features: latency, not usually annoying but sometimes the damn snare's just late, dammit - and simultaneous hits don't register. That's real damn annoying. I'm not much of a drummer, but what drumming I've done has ta...

Re: STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?

Chord On Blue was actually received pretty well around here but the hillbillies didn't get it anyway. Broken Men is my favorite local. I played in The Mess for years, myself. And The Slugs, which was short for Salt On Slugs, the original name. I guess that's pretty much awful there... How 'bout Momm...

Re: smoke breaks

I smoke way too much - when I roll my own, my fingers turn yellow. I used to be a Prince Albert roller but yellow fingers.... not cool.

Re: Studio Humidity

By the way, Bluetarp, maybe your guitar just needs time to adjust to its new surroundings. Like a year?
It's been six years and the poor thing just aint happy. I'm thinking of using it for kindling on one of my basses. Good thing there's still plenty of firewood.

Ear infections killed some French king, some Louis or somebody, and damn near killed me once, too. Don't screw around reading this dross.

Re: Studio Humidity

I bought an acoustic guitar at a pawn shop in Albuquerque. It was built in Las Cruces. I loved it. It had a feel and a tone that just naturally fit my hands and ears. Brought it home to Maine and within days it was the crappiest guitar in the house. I feel bad. I've considered sending it back to the...

Nick Noxious and the Necrophiliacs - Boneyard Lullabies

Quirky, hoky, maybe sick, but FWIW we did this record in three and a half months... one or two nights a week.... So to ward off the bashers and abuse the artistic metaphor, this aint the Sistine Chapel, it's a comic strip.

Re: Studio Humidity

In Maine, if I didn't heat my basement studio, it would be uninhabitable even for short periods of time. To avoid the tricky and pricey adaptation of the forced hot air furnace to a two-zone system, I installed electric baseboard. Simple enough until the electric bill comes in. GAK-aroo. So I'm now ...

Re: cool edit with external effects?

Isn't there a latency issue here? I don't know - I'm asking... I would assume that D/A - process - A/D will take a bit of time.... so the processed track will show up a bit late??

I need to get off my ass and read the interface specs, don't I.....
