Playing with your fingers does not create noise. Playing with your feet creates a lot of noise, and playing with your tongue just makes a mess.

Is this bass player learning the difference between live technique and recording technique?

I've done what you're doing by cutting. pasting and saving into separate files, then reassembling in the burner software, but Cool Edit Pro allows you to do just exactly what you're saying. I think. I haven't actually done it but I've read about it.

What's your timeline zoom at - are you looking in at the millisecond level, or are you looking at 20 seconds?
