Got ya, that's what I was thinking. Thanks a ton.

Focusrite MKii Dynamic Line Outs

Looking for a good use for these line outs. I have a Tascam FW-1884 board, and the MKii is hooked up to that. The board handles the main monitors and has 6 outputs for headphones. I also have a monitor station with 4 more headphone outs. So I'm good there. I generally keep the 8 inputs of the MKii s...

I think your studio name is very important. Mine was "Laundry Rules Recording" at my old home because some previous tenants had written their wasting rules on the wall. It was a funny name, but Laundry Room existed in Seattle and that was too similar, plus people would say it with emphasis on "rule...

Excellent. Thanks man, I'll do that.
I actually attended his audio engineering classes, and they were great. Very cool guy with a nice place.

Wrapping them with MS decoders on the way out & back in will still work. They don't need to be linked. Once compressor effects the center of the image, and the other effects both sides together. To my ear, I prefer MS encoded/decoded compression on the master bus over most regular stereo compressor...

It might be worth a call/email to DBX to confirm.
Just got word back from DBX... Not designed for stereo operation :? Guess I'm stuck.

I think there are two issues at play here, possibly getting confused. The OP also posted a thread asking about the "link" switches on the 8-slot API lunchbox. Those switches let you set up adjacent slots in series...if you patch into slot 1, then set the switch, you can then patch out of slot 2. Th...

Thanks everyone for all the useful info! I've been playing a lot around with it. And found that my chassis [the API 8-slot] has switches in the back where I can link 2 channels. So far I've been experimenting running it through both ways. Not linked, each channel on its own and set the comps to comp...

are you using a analog console? or ITB? either way - you need to send the LEFT OUTPUT of either your DAW or console to 1 channel of the compressor and then out of it to the LEFT INPUT of your capture device (that you are printing the mix to) and do the same for the RIGHT side. Then I'd start at low...

Running my mix through 2 compressors. ELI5 please

Just bought 2 DBX 560A's.
I'm looking for a detailed explanation on how to run my entire mix through both compressors for stereo compression on my entire mix.

I think I partially understand the process, but want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Thanks in advance!

API 8-slot lunchbox- chain linking?

Got an 8-slot API lunchbox with the switches on the back for linking. I'm having trouble getting my 2 Neve 511's and 2 DBX 560a's working properly through my patchbay, and I have a feeling the problem is in this linking. I have scoured the internet but can't find anything on this. So does anyone kno...

I actually just started my studio/site, but I hope so! Figure there is enough happening on there it's gotta help somewhat. Is that a real...
