Re: monster cable rca patch cables
if your running a high quality setup then your signal chain is only as good as it's weakest link. if your buying RCA cables then what ever you're plugging in is unbalanced which is usually a sign that it's a consumer level -10 unit or is just not an extremely expensive unit(no offence especially sin...

Re: notice the trend? it applies here too sometimes
i saw this elsewhere and thought that sometimes it applied to this board too. not nearly as much as other boards, but still... i got a kick out of it... ------------- QUESTION: How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb ha...

Re: Digi 002 v. 888 interface
i'll tell you what i know... 888: -not being supported by digidesign anymore i believe. the company has kind of written it off. if you have problems they may just tell you to get the HD series. it's kind of like microsoft and windows 95 -usually 20 bits unless you can find a cheap 888/24. -has 8 AES...

Re: stupidest/worst mistake you've made in a session
happily i can say this was a long time ago. very first session i ever did outside of school, and i was nervous and looking to impress. i was getting my drum sound and adjusting mics then running back into the control room to listen. it was crap! everything seemed to have this echo on it that i just ...

Re: producer, dick, messiah
no decent book publisher would release a novel without having an editor at least look at it. i know it's not a perfect metaphor but the point is to get someones opinion and/or critisism of the peice before the public gets to judge. the public doesn't bother being polite. it all depends if the projec...

Re: MIC REVIEW: The BLUE "Mouse"
not that it has much to do with the mic itself but i was talking with the Blue Mic guys at AES NYC and they were one of the only companies whose reps were exceptionally nice and helpful. great people!. this is a company i recommend supporting if anyone is looking for good mics. they also seemed to b...

thankyou soooo much for the votes people. it's good to hear opinions from people with a true love for the artform above the almighty dollar. it looks like i got some more research to do. if i'm spending money on a distressor or other such comps it can't hurt much more to get a RNC while i'm at it. g...

Re: +48V supply okay for a 20V condenser?
as far as i have been trained every condenser requires varying amounts of voltage for the backplate and internal preamp. when you feed it +48v the mics simply take what they want and leave the rest. in theory it wouldn't be the phantom power but it is an old mic so who can say. if the mic has a spac...

i'm looking to buy a high quality compressor for a decent home/project studio. i'm sick of settling with plugins and want to be able to go to tape through something i won't regret having used later. i've done my research but just can't make up my mind. i've read all about the FMR RNC and the dbx 160...

Re: tac 16x8x2
i have a tac scorpion from 1985. manual and everything if it's the same kind that you are looking for. i know that amek has recently sold off all of the spare channel strips they had for my console and so i don't know if they still have record of the manuals. if amek turns up to be a dead end feel f...
