If you wanted you could copy and split the original bass signal into different bass eq areas and pan those so you have different parts of the signals eq spectrum spread out. You could split some more and take the higher frequencies of those and pan them too, like plucking/slapping sound, or just hig...

I went through all of my old tape masters and mixes. The mission was to locate and trash what I didn't need because I have to much crap in my room. Maybe I will make a compilation out of all of these and call it "volume 1" or something silly like that. Would be good at least for backing everything up.

That's another thing I was wondering; if I use another ac adapter that has the same voltage/current etc would it maybe cause harm for proprietary reasons?

Broken AC Adapter for Tascam Portastudio 414

Hey everybody. I'm looking to archive my old tape recordings onto my computer but my Portastudio ac adapter is shorted where the wires leaved the core. Is this easy to replace or do you know of somewhere to buy a new/used one. And while I'm on the topic, what is the best way to get it off of the Tas...

And maybe there is no reason to not learn theory except for the difficulty in changing methodologies and the way you view and know music. Possibly it is "too hard", but for good reasons.

I hear ya word clock. And it provoked some insight for me regarding methodology. A classically trained (I hope that's the right term) musician who is serious will practice a lot and develop his fluency in music. The methodology he uses is theory. The strengths in this are being able to guarantee to ...

"Also, even though this was put to rest pages ago, the whole chops Luddite/"can't learn technique because I'll lose my soul" thing is weak." "I think it has more to do with trying to appeal to reactionary, hipster audiences than any real argument about creativity." I hope this is not the core of why...

"I feel that it would be wise to not learn counting or anything technical because I would focus on the technical "left-brain" side of it too much." -oops, didn't mean for that one to be a statement. I definitely see the value in learning things like reading and counting. More jobs is one major plus....

I hope this isn't further complicating things but I have something to share in regards to not wanting to learn certain things. This is purely for the sake of looking at this topic from many different angles to come to a greater understanding. I do fear learning certain things. My first love was guit...

It's all useless if the overall song sucks- Sorry, I'm a failing musician songwriter. I love recording drums too, so many possibilities and sound is fascinating- truly. And it's not all useless if you are an aspiring engineer. You learn stuff while experimenting... But if you are a songwriter it can...

I had never heard of the Samples before but I just heard them and they rock. Immediately I could tell they are a band that I would pay money to own their albums. Kind of R.E.M. meets the Police type of a sound. And whoever writes the melodies and guitar parts must love music and coming up with nice ...

learning to program

does anybody have any recommendations for where to start if one was to learn computer programming for music software? I know music software could mean a wide variety of things, but I don't even know what specific area I want to get into yet. Maybe everything. Basically I want to get on the road and ...
