Re: Need tips for doing graphics yourself for self-released
If I'm going to be doing my rasters in Photoshop and layout in Illustrator, when I go to press, will I have combined them into one file in Illustrator, or, as far as this color separation is concerned, will I have the rasters and layout as separate files? 300 dpi is low grade for printing? What dpi...

Re: Tape Op Subscription
FYI - I just got an e-mail from Tape-Op subscriptions saying the following:
Actually, everyone has to renew right now so we can clean out bad subscriptions.

Re: Crapehanger From Los Angeles
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah we've never really been a traditional type of band. We just sort of jam around and let things come out and form themselves the way that they want to be formed. I guess you can call us slaves to the moment of inspiration. I still find our arrangements to be pretty safe...

Re: Tape Op Subscription
I noticed there is a renew subscription option. Does the free subscription expire after a time?

Tape Op Subscription
Has the August / Sept issue of tape op gone out yet? The last one I received was May/June. I am wondering if it's out or if my mail is being stolen since a couple of other mags that I subscribe to have not arrived as well.

Re: Kick Drum
Here's a question: Are you asking about TRACKING a kick drum, or making a recorded track sound better? From your posts, it sounds like you have received some tracks from your drummer and now you are trying to tweak them. jt Well I've found the tracks to be un-tweakable but if you have any suggestio...

Re: Kick Drum
Hey thanks for the quick responses. The mics he used were one of those Audix drum mic packages - not sure exactly which models. Funny enough -- he used some SM57's for overheads and that gets a better fuller kit sound than all the close mic tracks he gave me. The front head is there and the mic is d...

Kick Drum
Anybody have any suggestions for getting a good kick drum sound? The sound my drummer is getting in his home studio sounds like a god damn hammer hitting metal. I can't seem to EQ anything good out of it and it always gets lost in the mix.
?
Thanks for any help you can give.
