and I find that for the more modern sounds, a JCM900 into a standard 1960 cab works very well.
That is what I use and I like it...I did change over to KT88's which made a world of difference IHMO...

I agree with you on the magnitude of Fur - when I first heard Be Quiet and Drive and I thought that was it - I need to hang up my guitar as I can't get better...

I like their new stuff as well though...

The fire thef new album CLIPS. cosntantly. CONSTANTLY. it's annoying as shit. Up to 20-30 samples at a time like blocks. It buzzes and pops. Such great songs, but man, who did they let work on this? And di they do it on 50 cent headphones? Damn I just bought it!! Hmm... Oh and good as it is - QOTSA...

Yeah kind of reminds me of a David Sylvian (vocal tone) meets Queensryche (melody). I like the brighter acoustic guitar. Was is doubled?

Oh and as far as time to mix - I've taken an hour and I've taken three days, it all depends.

I recorded some tuba a while back with a pair of shure SM 81's about 6 feet back aimed slightly towards the bell. If you have a big room add another pair further back. Tubas are loud. Listening to some recordings before hand I noticed they mix with big verbs and you need to capture that honking kind...
