Recommend: Protools, bang for your buck, lap-top...
Help: I need a lap-top for doing overdubs (protools session) at home. The limitations/requirements: It needs to be a laptop (I need small and portable) It will only be recording 1-2 tracks at a time. MAYBE 4 on a rare occasion. Minimal plugins used. I won't be requiring this to run lots of channels....

FA: 33609 Clone made with vintage Neve and Marinair trans
I'm selling most of my studio gear. This is a Prodigy Pro 33609 clone. I'm not a builder so I asked the project designer, Igor, if he would assemble it for me. I sourced the Neve transformers from Dan Alexander and the vintage Marinair transformers are amazing too. It's for auction on eBay. http://m...

FS: Federal AM-864/u, Chameleon Labs 7720 compressor
I've been a member here for a long time but haven't been active lately. I've gotten into acoustic guitar building and haven't spent much time in my studio so it's time to downsize. I have some compressors up for sale. They are priced reasonably but have a "best offer" option too. Aphex Compellor 320...

FA: Electrodyne 810 EQ module. Gretsch Roundbadge Kit too!!
Just 1 day left in these auctions! Hey everyone. I'm thinning out the herd a bit. I've had this Electrodyne module for a while and haven't gotten around to racking it. Time to let it go to a new home. These have a great reputation and it took me forever to find one. Here is the link: http://www.ebay...

Has anyone tried the Blue Yet-i Pro?
Just got a Blue Yet-i Pro for my birthday. The thought being I could use it at home to sketch ideas I could transfer to my studio. But before I open the box I figured I'd put out some feelers and see if there was any first hand experience with it. For $250 for a mic, pre, and convertor all rolled in...

FA: API 325 cards, vintage transformers, Audion Russian Comp
I have 4 API 325 line amp cards. Untested but great for conversion to 312 pres. Here is the link to one of the auctions. From there you can find the others. http://www.ebay.com/itm/180801745896?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649#ht_500wt_951 And how about some Belclere or Willesden ...

I'll vote fender. I've used a silverface vibrolux reverb more than anything else for recording for years. It sounds great for clean to chunky rhythm plugged straight in. It takes pedals amazingly well. A MXR Dynacomp for slightly compressed rhythm or cleaner lead. A TS808 for harder rhythm and bitin...

I have the VOX AC4 head and 1x12" cabinet and it sounds great. They can be really fun. I don't have personal experience with the Bug but you should just go to a store and try it out. I've had 2 Epi Jr's and although noisey (buzzy) they sounded great. A little bit of mod work quieted them down a bit....

I have a bookmark on Safari on my iPhone for a website that has Oblique Strategies on it. But the connection in my studio space is poor and I tend to keep my phone on "airplane mode" when in my studio anyway to keep from getting noise into the system. Most links for it led me to the apple store (whe...

I want the Brian Eno Oblique Strategies App for my iPhone. It doesn't appear to be available in the applestore. Does anyone know of a different method for getting it?

I expect you'll have a great experience at Retrofret (also called Musurgia or New York String Service). They have done several minor repairs for me as well as restorations of three instruments: An Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustic Bass that had a collapsing top. A 1947 Gibson J45 neck reset where the he...
