I doubt Logic will ever be as cutting edge as Ableton, or as industry standard as Pro Tools, but I doubt that Apple would straight up abandon it. Correct answer. Ableton is so far ahead it's silly and for better or worse, PT is what most people seem to "need". I swear I hope Ableton 9 is a huge upd...

I too was told of Adcom (over on rec.audio.pro).
I have a GFA 535 and is the best bang for buck out there. Rack kits are available too.

Mackie MCU & PT 9?

I'm looking to making the leap to Pro Tools.
Curious though, is the Mackie MCU (in HUI Mode I'd assume) working as expected?

Anyone have any success stories?

Thanks!

Whew, that Goldwave interface is pretty bad.
If you can work with that you've already paid you dues.

Higher end folks (like Metric Halo & many others) are deeply rooted in Firewire. The outcry back to Apple would be loud.

I bet it sticks around longer than we think.

Between Light Peak and USB 3.0, I don't think Firewire will be around much longer. It's already hard to find Firewire drives in low-end gear shops like Best Buy. Firewire is pretty robust (especially on the Mac). It will be around as long as consumers and more importantly pros say it should be. Don...

The 535 will power any 8" and down pair of nearfields to very loud levels. I've powered Tannoy system 8's with it and it was so nice. Now I use (1980's era) AR 18s speakers. Pow!

Plenty of power. Dead silent too.

The folks over at rec.audio.pro turned me on to the Adcom. Sage advice indeed.

For the same loot (or a tad less) grab an Adcom 535. Best bang for buck amp I've used by far. Unbalanced in.... but so what? Keep your cable length short & use good cable.

It will be an eye/ear opener.

Rack ears are still available too.

I'm really a fan of Echo stuff, but I can say that the M-Audio Fast Track line (USB) was pretty quick to set up on a Thinkpad and sounded quite good.

I'd still advise Firewire & a Mac if it's an option though.

So....

This fella is suggesting we buy a Chinese mic, that's been shipped to & tweaked in Canada, and then sent to Germany and then shipped back here?

Let get serious for a minute.

Ableton's track grouping and general workflow still are beyond easy.

It's funny because it started out as a Live DJ Electronic type deal..... but as a DAW I think it's far more intuitive that most.
