Why does everyone slam Neumann, but goes easy on some others
I'm talking about the recent threads...and some not so recent...where it seems like everyone is saying "F" Neuman. I agree that some of their new mics aren't really all that, like the older ones, but they do still make the U87, 184, etc.... Yes, they are expensive, but so are some of the other guys....

Get the 6 space api lunchbox from fletcher for $450, then get as many of the OSA/api modules you can from Atlas Pro. This basically means 2 right now. Then, every time you have an extra $450-500, get another.... In the long run, it's a tad cheaper that way, and you're getting API sounding, or at lea...

Re: favorite multi-channel mic preamps?
sytek is about it in that range. The next closest is probably the RNP which would run you a tad under a grand for 4 channels. Do you really want 4 alike? Why not get a pair of something and a pair of something else? Just asking....cause most guys when getting the sytek will even get the bb option on...

Re: help me find cheap ribbon mic
also search ebay for beyer m260 or m160. The 260 can definitely be found for around $200. The 160, sometimes around $200. Both are killer mics. I think the 160 is a little more versatile though.

Re: Has anyone used this to mic their kicks,,,, or anything
a cheaper option is to go to radio shack and get a bare woofer and an older mic cable. Cut one end off and wire it to the speaker and make your own for about $40 tops. Then tape or strap it to a mic stand yourself.
Or send me the nearly $300 and I'll do it for you.

Latest ebay mic scam....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2373717504&category=41470 Just saw this hit today. I'm sure it's the same guy as the Telefunken U47 last week. If not, It's probably just a copycat. It's really no use reporting this to ebay as they let that other auction stay up, even after the sel...

Early 80s G&L L2000E FA...
There's been so much talk lately about G&L basses on here with the "recording bass direct" thread and others, I thought I'd let you guys know about this one that I just posted on ebay. It really is a killer bass. It's got that growl....bass players will know what I'm talking about...that we all look...

Re: Beyerdynamic Mics
On the 201...I've never really had the patience to mess with it too much. I think the other night I had it in my typical 57 spot...near the edge of the snare, about 1" off and pretty flat. I might try to angle it a bit more. It just seemed to get a weak pop, primarily all top head and no snare or me...

Re: Beyerdynamic Mics
Everyone always talks about the 201 on snare, but I really haven't had as much luck with it. Any of you guys use it, lemme know what works with this mic. I'm trying the following....usually a Ludwig Supra and a Vintech 1272 pre. I can slap up a 57 or a 421 and usually get a good sound, but not so wi...

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 1-14-04
transferred my live to DAT recording of our last band practice to the computer and edited it to a CD for the rest of the band. I'll be glad when these songs are finally going to get really recorded. I'm the one getting tired of hearing them so much doing the practice taping. Had a show last Sat nigh...

Re: Neumann to increase prices....again!!??
There are a lot of other good mics out these days, but neumanns aren't too shabby though...I gotta admit. I'm sure the price increase has somthing to do with the dollar vs. other currency systems. If this is the case, then look for increases from just about everyone else since most are made out of t...

www.fenderforum.com but, as to replacing parts and hoping to have an equivalent bass to a more expensive model.... It's a lot more than just swapping out pickups. The pots are better on the higher end models, the wood used in the bodies and necks is of higher quality, hence you should have a better ...

Re: P & J basses... Mexican (MIM)... what's the differen
right...everything he just said. Also, J basses have sort of been en vogue the past few years. They're nice, but really just a matter of choice and personal preference as to which is better. You're primarily a drummer, so it's sort of the equivalent of asking which drum shells are better, birch or m...

Re: Old School Audio Modules
talking about getting two modules in a rack...check out www.atlatproaudio.com and look under OSA for their specials. I believe they have a special for two units in a one space rack or something. The cheapest route for me was to get a lunchbox from API. I think Mercenary sells them for $450. Add in t...
