Re: Syncing a 2'' machine to PT or Sequencer
Hey everyone, I hope this post is in the right spot. What I'm wanting to do is an experimental project, mainly being an older style electronic song. I'll be recording to a studer 827, but using PT to trigger my drum machines, and bass synth, and most likely lead synths, pads etc. From what I gather...

I'm going back and forth on how much I want to get wrapped up in the technical aspect of tape deck maintenance. Part of me wants to get all into working on these machines. The other part of me knows I'll spend all my time on that and won't actually do much recording. Fair enough. But maintaining an...

So, I just buy tape of the right size and formulation and I'm good to go? So, I can buy RMGI 911 10.5 1/4" and not worry about NAB or IEC? For now just have a play around with the machine & see if its what you want to do before sinking any more money into it. Get into the specifics later. You reall...

for new tape rmg 911 would work best, check full compass they sell it there http://www.fullcompass.com/product/344159.html Is this NAB or IEC? Does it matter? Thanks Yes it matters, but not when buying tape. Any tape you purchase does not come formulated as NAB (IEC2) or CCIR (IEC) eq standard. The...

The main difference thats obvious from a BX20E shows the BX22e to be mono in/stereo out ? Whereas the BX20E is stereo in/stereo out. I have a BX20E with the original decay controller, it's a one trick pony but pretty sweet at what it does. Random web photo: http://www.sanyo-densi.com/dai2/akg_bx20_7...

Re: Can anyone explain conventions in leadering tape?
I think all the colours are/were to used identify mono or stereo material
& what speed to playback tapes at etc. Whereas white is just for gaps between songs
or sides.

Re: Bias before Record Level?
The thing is, if I set my record level up this high and then go to bias, the peak is off the meters. Should I reduce the record level to get the bias in range of the meters, set bias, and then go back and set record level? Make sure you have your calibration happening in the correct sequence first....
