Re: Native Instruments Pro-53
P.S. The Pro-52 filters on Reaktor are my favorite. They are nice and chewy.
I'd imagine the 53s are an improvement

Re: Potentially dumb question about impedance
Thank god. I can't afford any more lawsuits.
I have approximately zero soldering skills, but thanks for the schematic.
Not totally sure if I can spell very well this morning either.

Re: The Zombies....
The bassist is one of the more underrated players of the era. I saw Colin Blunstone perform with The Loser's Lounge a couple years ago, and it was fucking amazing. He still has the pipes. I would pick up his Year One solo record, which has some great, great, great tracks on it too. Scarpatoni was on...

Re: Joy Division drum sounds...?
Atmosphere is still one of the only songs that gives me chills every time I hear it. One of the few recordings I would ever describe as perfect. Les Bains Douches is a pretty exciting record. Very good recording quality, sounding like it's right off the desk. Doesn't sound like they overdubbed anyth...

Re: beat detectives?
beatdetective is TDM only.
i'm doing it manually too, and after practice, practice, practice i'm getting good at it, but I'd love an easier way of doing it.
I use certain ensembles in Reaktor Session to do beats from little loops that I've done lately. That's a damn good program.

cFMC,
are you using a reamp to do this too, and if not, do have any problems with audio quality doing this i.e. line level issues doing from +4 to -10?

Re: Any Steve Tibbetts fans?
I've never heard him, but I read an article in my roommate's Guitar Player a few months ago that was pretty fascinating. It was mainly about his recording process I seem to remember that he had all these Indonesian drums which he would sample and shift down an octave or so, and then he would chop th...

Re: Daydream Nation's bad distortion
Nobody has brought up the possibility that their odd, discordant tunings could be playing a part in that sound that you hear.
So I will.
