Re: Really Specific RNC Question

Yep, turning the threshold way on down did the trick, and I put a big muff in front of the RNC to hopefully boost the signal a bit. Didn't drag out my other amp, but that's ok. It's enough to know that the RNC functions, for now. Thanks for all the clues. Now, on to setting up stuff (again -- moving...

Re: Really Specific RNC Question

The amp I was using (Pathfinder) doesn't have an effects loop, but my other amp does. Haven't used it in a while, good reminder. Thanks for that.

Re: What comes after "dead but not forgotten"?

Dunno what's wrong with you people. It's very simple:

It goes

"...gone but [he's] not forgotten"
"this is the story of Johnny Rotten"

and so on.

Neil Young's lyrics are widely available.

Re: Really Specific RNC Question

But my question is, aren't you more worried about learing how to use a compressor then about giving some ebay seller feedback? Or maybe that would just be me.... Anyway, have fun. I dig my RNC.... thanks. Y'know, I just want to tie up loose ends and make sure I won't have to return the thing to the...

Really Specific RNC Question

I just got an RNC off eBay and I need to test it so I can give the seller feedback, etc. and get on with things. PROBLEM: I've never used a compressor before, personally. I figure I'd run my guitar through it and just see if fiddling with knobs would satisfy me that it was at least working properly....

Re: MusiciansFriend gear reviews?

Remember, those reveiws are posted on a web site designed to sELL YOU LOTS OF GEAR. It's admirable that they put up 'ratings', but I don't truss 'em. And the people reviewing? Do you know these people? I myself try to avoid reading gear features and such on retail websites and in catalogs. Hopefully...

Re: Good Pre's into Cheap DAW's

I really don't mean this to sound jerky --

Ever thought about vocal lessons?

Somebody with knowledge could very well make your voice sound much better to begin with. And I'd think for way less than $1000. Or heck, buy the pre, you know you want it, but consider vocal lessons anyway, just for kicks.

Re: Venue/Promoter getting a cut from Merch?

I can confirm that the "what band are you seeing" thing happens in Boston. It was always my understanding that it was a way to see which bands draw, for purposes of perhaps that band getting another booking. But it could have something to do with percentages, too, I dunno. When the promoter "took" t...

Re: guitar/electronics tech in arizona?

Get ahold of the Chicago Store in Tucson. They have a repair dept, and if they won't do it, they'll know someone who will. I can't recommend them personally, since I haven't lived there in years and years, but it's a place to start.

Re: Clearchannel drops Stern

Of course it's frustrating to have to put up with crap you don't like. That's so obvious that it shouldn't even have to be stated. What's frustrating is having to deal with a bunch of moralistic windbags who think they know what's best for me! So do something. No... please... don't! CC PP C'...

I have never taken a photograph of my feet. Well, I HAVE taken a photograph of your feet. Bunion city. joking, I'm joking. No bunions. Cuticle city. again, kidding...I have never taken a photograph of VeronicaSawyer's feet. No, not her feet. only playing. Really. (great ears though) ok, enough.

Re: Clearchannel drops Stern

Y'know, there are things citizens can do when faced with some aspect of life in these here United States that they don't like (what they are hearing on the airwaves, for instance, or, more generally, the invasiveness of media). I made a small mention of a few in my prior post on this thread-- they a...

okay, just to check - from what I heard, he was pulled from the air in 6 markets, not dropped entirely by Clear Channel. was I misinformed? do 6 markets comprise a large share of his audience? I have no idea, since I don't listen to him, maybe if that's 6 out of 7 stations it's something to worry a...

Re: Mastering

I can't speak for Soundguy Dave (I'd have to be insane), but I agree with his analogy. And hey, it's only his opinion, which was asked for. I don't think it was a blast against anybody's book. I just took it as a (funny/smartassed) way to give respect to mastering, those who do it, and all it involv...
