Hooking up Dorrough 40-A2 meters and calibrating levels?
Hi, I recently switched from a Crest Century 32ch mixing board to a Vintage Maker 32ch passive/active (Neuman v475-2c summing amp) analog summing box. It has three dedicated outputs before the master insert: A/B (switchable to either, but not both active at the same time), and C. C is what I want to...

Wiring of a transformer "Color" box w/ bypass 4PDT
Howdy all, I'm a bit of an electronics novice, but I read a lot, like to get my hands dirty, and learn. As such, I have four pairs of line transformers (UTC A-20, Triad HS-66, Stancor WF-30, etc) that I am wanting to wire up in a racked box to use for both tracking and mixing. The idea is not a new ...

The more and more I look at what is out there and the variety of options, the more appealing the Apollo 16 looks to me. I have enough variety of various outboard mic pres (plus a SC Ghost 24), and am still looking at picking up something nice like the Audient or Midas 8ch units for under a grand use...

My goal is always to monetarily get the best bang for my buck, but I'm also always doing my best not to compromise quality, as I try my best to capture bands and artists as best as possible. Most of that is experience, technique, and knowledge of the engineer, but every little bit extra helps. A poo...

A/D/A converter upgrades - Apollo 16, Rosetta 800, AD-16x?
For tracking and mostly mixing, I currently use an older Apogee FireWire Ensemble with a Presonus Digimax FS via ADAT, those feed a patchbay normalled to a Folcrom for OTB mixing. Also use a Rosetta 200 via SPDIF from the Ensemble for ITB monitoring. This allows me to hear my ITB mix on Dangerous ST...

Thanks kslight! That is what I kind of figured, but didn't have anyone to bounce it off of to confirm. It's all going through new Samson S-Patch Pro patchbays, so I'm thinking the connections should all be solid. Warren over at ZenPro (amongst others) have recommended to me the Samson patchbays. I o...

Snake length?
I'm ordering new fan snakes for adding more patchbays. Getting them through Seismic Audio, who seem to have good bang for the buck cabling that has nice gold tipped ends which are easy to fix or modify (ie replace XLR-M end to XLR-F, etc). Most of my cabling only needs to be 3-5ft, but I am wonderin...
