Re: What's wrong with Neumann?

Last time I checked my 421 was not such a bad mic either- so the senhisser thing is a bit moot to me, they are both crafty germans, and we know from history crafty germans make great mic's,. Check out the Hitler bottle, whaoa talk about ahead of the times, why don't they re-issue those? o I forgot b...

Re: What's wrong with Neumann?

Re: Oddbal Microphones that kick ass

A client of mine gave me a set of wierd RCA mics that were used in a tape recorder set from the 50's- they look more like electric shavers-
anyway these mics get used so often its not funny. They get this great skwalky lofi thing, I usually plug em right into a champ amp and mike the amp-

Re: Royer R-121 Vs. 122

FYI I used a 121 on a loud rock guitar through a mackie last week end, and it sounded just fantastic...plus there was gain to spare. I Mean I would love to have a john hardy pre but it does work down in the trenches- I'm finding uses for the mic slowly , it hasn't sounded good so far on much else, I...

Re: Tascam 38 sync/repro head question

I have a 38 and there is NO disernable (sp?) difference between the 2 heads. just go with what works- Spiral is totally right, the tape crosses both heads at all times the lifters aren't engaged
