1/2 inch 16 track in San Diego or LA?
Does anyone have a 1/2" 16 track (preferably Tascam) around the San Diego area, or up in LA? I have two reels that I need to copy to another format.
Thanks....
Thanks....

Re: yet another PC/Mac ProTools riddle
i have an mbox at home and an hd at the studio... the only incompatibility i found is that the mbox will only do 44.1 and 48k sessions. it won't open high sample rate sessions.

Re: The Thread About Plug-Ins
for years i've tracked and edited to hard drive and mixed through a console... now i'm considering putting it all in the computer - esp. since my new employer is giving me a nice budget to do so. anyway, i'd love to hear what people think are the very best eq and channel dynamics plugins (rtas in my...

Re: Sticky tape thread?
I just took a new job at a university recording studio, and the first task they put me on is dubbing old faculty masters. Now it seems all the tapes have been stored in rather humid warm storage, and every one of them is leaving a trail of goo. The studio had no oven, and when I suggested a fruit de...

mackie dxb? yamaha dm2000?
i'm curious if anyone has heard either of these digital boards. they seem to be the right size for our studio, but i am a little worried as to what yamaha or mackie may have come up with for digital eq or compression...

Re: adding adat pres to digirack (presonus digimax) heeeelp!
VERY loose. okay - i'll wager that the optical led is soldered directly to the circuit board, and that it is now broken off of the circuit board. the only time it is working, is when you wiggle it so that the metal connections touch. any pro audio repair shop should be able to fix this. if under wa...

Re: adding adat pres to digirack (presonus digimax) heeeelp!
have you tried sending the digimax signal to any other device?
it sounds like the optical connector on the digimax might be a bit flakey... does it seem a little loose?

Re: Mixer to Computer levels. HELP?!!!!!
the safest thing to do is leave them all at zero... however, i'd suggest playing with them so you can figure out what sounds best to you. you need to experiment, (and make a few mistakes) if you want to get good at this. and yes, the club system is going to sound much different than your headphones....

mixbuss comparisons
some of my colleagues have been talking about the benefits of using external analog mix busses, as opposed to mixing within protools or dp4. since i have built analog gear, and programmed computers, i am a little wary of this idea, and am probably going to do a double blind test later this year. any...
