Re: diy mics - big fun for all!

Does anyone here have any idea how these noise cancelling capsules (Panasonic WM-55D103)would perform in these circuits? http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dksus.dll?Detail?Ref=74323&Row=357416&Site=US You can pick up similar ones 5 for $1 on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem...

Re: Some Sherlock mods...

OK, just a couple more... Seems like connecting a capacitor from the feedback path to ground messes with the the attack, threshold, release, or some such something. Anyway, I tried values from 56pF up to 0.47uF and settled on 0.01uF. Depending on the input level setting, you can make a kick drum sou...

Re: Mini-Synth Done.......Pictures

Thanks, Ryan. So, looks like there are actually three different places where you could input an external audio signal. cool Which pot are you talking about for the filter? If the response is all crowded at one side of the rotation... yeah, I would definately try a log taper pot instead. If that make...

Re: Mini-Synth Done.......Pictures

Nice job, Ryan! I picked up one of these circuit boards from Ray, too. Can't wait to start putting it together! There are also some mods on that site to add an external audio signal input (so you can route to the filters and such). Where did you find the mod for adding external audio? Did you do it?...

Re: Some Sherlock mods...

Thanks Drew. I'll check out wiring up 1/4" jacks like that. I haven't used the transformers at all, so far. Just have the wired board along with the input/output jacks, pots, etc... all plugged into my breadboard. Getting some cool sounds. Definately useable. But, only tried drum machine and electri...

Some Sherlock mods...

This thing is cool, Drew (thanks!). I've got the dual channel PCB all populated, wired-up and have been trying a few different things before I rack it up... I'm definately adding a switch that toggles between parallel and series signal paths. Feeding the output of one channel to the input of the oth...

Re: diy mics - big fun for all!

I think the deal with those is that you've got to be right up on the capsule - they're meant for telephone mics and such. Not a lot of musical application, especially compared to the usual WM-61 and WM-55. So actually, sounds like they might give good isolation in close mic'd live situations? Anywa...

Re: uh. whoa. alesis modfx.

I don't think those other six ever went into production. MF had all of them listed over a year ago, before they were actually available. I wrote to Alesis back then because I wanted to get the FORMANTZ but MF kept changing the availability date for them. Anyway, the response I got from Alesis back t...

Re: Poor man's NY-2A compressor (DIY idea)

Yeah, balanced I/O... I was thinking about that, too. And, while it's being messed around with, maybe add a HPF on the side-chain and a separate side-chain insert. The White finger does look cool, too. Pedalgeek has them, and I think there are even a couple up on eBay right now. It has all the same ...

Poor man's NY-2A compressor (DIY idea)

... pick up a couple of Black Fingers and rehouse them together in a rack case. I bet that'd be pretty cool (and way cheaper!). 8)
