How about an interview?
I know I'm a little late to the party posting to this thread, but I totally agree - I love the She & Him album. Great songs, great performances and great production. It's so nice to hear something that sounds like it was made by actual humans and isn't compressed to death. Larry - how about an inter...

Van Lear Rose is one of my favorite albums of the last couple years -- I'd love to hear more about how it was recorded. It's such a travesty that it was snubbed at the CMA awards the year it came out. Of course, Nashville wouldn't know what to do with real Country music if it bit it in the ass... -V-

Fixing crappy limiting on live recording
Hi everyone -- So here's the scenario -- I recorded a live show of my band onto a Sony minidisc recorder with the included little stereo condensor mic. The recording turned out sounding pretty decent except that occasionally such as on loud drum hits, the crappy "Automatic Gain Control" kicks in whi...

How was it mixed?
But when you were fiddling with the mix, what were you mixing it on? It really like how spacious and open it sounds.

Beautiful
Wow - that is a really beautiful track in every way -- the songwriting, the performance and the recording. I love the fullness and spaciousness of it. I want that sound! Thanks for sharing your gear list and techniques. You've inspired me to go and try my hand at building one of those Hamptone kits....

Introducing "Light, Sweet Crude" my first album
Hi fellow tape-oppers, I'm the guitarist for " The Famous " an indie/alt.country band from San Francisco. We've just released our debut album "Light, Sweet Crude", recorded by me onto ADATs and hard drive at our rehearsal studio and mixed at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco onto 1/2" tape by Aaron Pr...

Chaos Cabaret comes to Portland and Seattle!
Hey Portland and Seattle Tapeoppers, My band "The Famous" (http://www.thefamous.net) will be coming to Portland and Seattle this weekend as part of a travelling circus known as Chicken John's Chaos Cabaret. It's going to be an incredible 5 hour long oddball variety show with musicians, burlesque dan...

Re: A special Halloween song recorded just last night!
Actually - the guitar cab was miked with a 57 and the D-112. Blended together they sound pretty good. The D112 rounds out the lower end that the 57 doesn't quite pick up. I like to point each mic perpendicular to the grille, with the capsules pointing at the seam between the cone and the dome on the...

Stream it here: http://mp3postcards.com/listen?610 Recorded into AudioDesk through a creaky Motu 828mkI. Mics used: AKG D-112 on vox and electric guitar, crappy Oktava 219 on acoustic guitar and upright bass, SM-57 on the snare. Pres used were: Meek VC6, and Symetrix SX-202. Mixed "in-the-box" with ...

Re: Audiodesk?
I just upgraded to AudioDesk 2.02 on OSX, and so far I'm loving it except I can't figure out how to create a fader group! There's no mention of it that I could find in the manual, or in the online help. I'm pretty sure I used to be able do it in AudioDesk 1... In reply to the AU support question -- ...
