Here is a link to benchmark comparisons of several modern CPU's using Nuendo. Although mixdown's aren't exactly what we are looking for it is an example of the type of operations we do with audio engineering.

Re: Athlon 64 vs Pentium 4 HT?
Yeah, just a disclaimer.... I say Intel is more stable because they are used exclusively by most OEM's and because of reviews and comparisions that I have read in the past (all from non-audio websites like www.anandtech.com and www.tomshardware.com ). I also work at intel in the chipset validation d...

Re: digi 002 rack=piece of shit
I am not expert in this field but I bought Cubase SL and an Aardvark Q10 for about $1050. It has got 8 ins (4 with phantom, 4 with inserts and 2 with direct) and 8 outs. I haven't had any fatal hardware issues and it works pretty well in my opinion. You also have more flexibility and upgrade options...

Re: Athlon 64 vs Pentium 4 HT?
The Athlon 64's also have a unified memory controller on the processor giving them superior memory performance. The 64 bit thing is important but P4's and Athlon's already have a 64 bit fsb so the performance change might not be as siginificant as everyone thinks. I however will always use Intel arc...

Re: Adding seperation and depth while mixing
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately tracking is done. We did it at my friends office and I am about to move out of state so doing it again is out of the question. I am starting to realize how important it is to do better tracking. I don't have a lot of mics and preamps available yet but I can stil...

Adding seperation and depth while mixing
How can I add depth and clarity to a mix? I am mixing some material from my band (guitar, bass, drums and vocals) and I notice that my music doesn't seperate the instuments that well when compared to a professional recording. Should I use a different reverb for the drums than with the guitar. If I e...

Re: Recording Tambourine
Thanks for the replies. I was trying to do it all myself yesterday and got a little frustrated. I got a friend coming over tonight so I will give these ideas a try.
Thanks

Recording Tambourine
Can anybody give some advice on recording a tambourine. I have a choice of either a Mxl v93, a SM 57 and a SM 58 and will be recording in my house. I have been messing around with it and I am getting a terrible thump when I hit it with my hand (using the Mxl v93). I am wondering if I should switch t...

Drum Sound.
I need help with drum sound. Particularly eq, reverb and compression. I like the drum sounds J Robbins and Jason Livermore create like on Shiner the Egg and Burning Airlines Identikit but am struggling when trying to simulate them with my bands recording.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
