Re: ashly sc-50 question
Thats exactly how mine is.
Thats about all I can say without knowing anything about the operation of it, rather than just twistin' knobs.

well, if you're not willing to listen to advice, why are you asking what amp to buy? buy the crate, dude.

Re: Looking for NY studio w/ 1" 16 track (MS-16)
This guy I sorta know plays in a band who's drummer owns this:
http://www.chumbucketstudios.com/home.htm
MS-16, Tac Scorpion board, FATSO, Distressors, and some budget stuff.
Price is definitely right (25/hr).
I'm looking into mix studios as well, I'd consider it if I wasn't tracking to PT.

The 'modular' thing has been tried. I believe it was Trace Elliot that did it first about 15 maybe more years ago. I think its a cool idea, but it didn't seem to catch on. If I really wanted that kind of variation, I think I'd buy a Univalve.

Check out an ART Pro VLA. I haven't used one but they seem to be pretty popular here, where you'd think ART would be summarily dismissed.

Crate dude? You can't be serious. Or was that a joke for all the boutique recommendin' folks here. If you want something from the 70s thats affordable and reliable you can't get something with any collector cachet. Get a silverface fender (I have a twin, got it for $600, it's worth every penny) if y...

Am I the only person, on earth who doesn't (literally or figuratively) get the new Smile? Do people like it because it's somehow triumphant that the very thing that drove him insane making is now available, and hey, he's now just as insane, and absolutely can't sing (no, not just lost it, out and ou...

Re: Need New Guitar Amp: brutha's recommend!
I second that emotion on the Peavey classic - don't buy one of the new import ones, search for the older, Made in USA ones. Last time I looked for an amp it was hard to resist the Classic 50s everyone seemed to have for around 4 bills (30s would be cheaper used, of course). I do currently have the 3...

Re: T.bone RB500 - Inexpensive Ribbon Mic
I just got my Nady RSM today. I have no external preamps (yet, a SCA 2-banger is next on my list) so I really have to dime the gain on the mbox to come close to adequate (i believe the mbox only has 40 or so db of gain, but if anyone knows please share). I have an AKG 451 and a Shure radio shack spe...

Re: Is a 4-track cassette the center of your home studio?
I have one of the cassettes you're talking about, it has little gold reels inside. The brand is Teac, and I'm guessing it's pretty old. I work at a record store and this just happened to come in one day with someones old records or whatever.

friend of mine's band, the four of us are dying, recorded there and it came out pretty nice. they do kind of that low/mogwai/gybe thing and it sounded well, just like those records.

Re: Question for Deluxe Memory Man owners
Nipsy,
can you give your thoughts on it? (the 16 sec delay). I've wanted one of those for years, but I question EHX reliability (my big muff broke, friend's Polychorus broke TWICE) and I can't really tell how much it will do that the Line 6 doesn't.
sorry to hijak thread---

Re: Pictures and words and sounds of recording sessions
hey, what i heard was really good. a little light for my taste but far from the realm of cheesy, so kudos. it reminded me alot (especially your voice) of the last Nada Surf album. so, if you don't know it- hear it. i use a peavey combo amp as a drum accesory too, but i use one as a throne! i know, i...

Re: Question about an Effect used by Elliott Smith???
(as long as its a anaolg and true bypass pedal) Ugh, as a reformed guitar gear geek I'm begining to realize how creepy these kinds of statements. Having said that....Korg G4 Rotary Speaker Simulator! EXACTLY! Like if he found out E. Smith was using a digitech pedal or whatever, he would somehow not...
