Hey, is that rig with the sattelite reflectors and the theremin antennae for recording nature sounds, multi-tracking, calling SEAL team 7, or making Wonka bars?

I stumbled across this project a few weeks ago and loved everything about it. This is true art; the music, the vinyl, the whole concept. Very inspiring stuff, kudos! Thanks, No-Fi. I really appreciate it. By the way, the was done by a fellow named Nate Manny. His company is http://www.51eggs.com . ...

Modular - Matt Chamberlain, Viktor Krauss, and me.
Hello, fellow TOMBers. Last week I self-released a record I have been (for various reasons) sitting on for several years. It's Matt Chamberlain, Viktor Krauss, and myself. In early 2007 we spent a week improvising and collecting ideas. Over the next few months we passed files back and forth between ...

See, I don't know. I hear a difference, but I still wonder if it makes a difference, ultimately that is. Sure, if I was using multi-thousand dollar mics, pres, converters, cables, et. al, it might make improve things a bit, but as it stands with the gear I'm using.... I agree that there are a bunch...

What they're hearing (at least the notion) is that jittery/inaccurate clock causes distortion as a result of sampling error. Right. So either it's true that clocking a single device externally CAN reduce jitter and increase accuracy (therefor improving sound), in spite of it being "theoretically" i...

So...I know that it's debatable that an external word clock is actually more stable than an internal one when you are only using one device. I know that people also perceive a difference when they use an external clock. That could be clocking a 002 to a Black Lion micro clock...or clocking an HD rig...

The Sherman is very cool, but I don't think it's what you are looking for. It's more suited to complete audio mangulation - it would be cool for complete meltdown sounds, but by that point you wouldn't still be hearing what notes you are actually playing. For something with the range and complexity ...

I have one Latch Lake stand, and I feel as much affection and enthusiasm for it as almost any other piece of gear in the studio. It's great, especially if you have some higher ceilings or hefty mics (or both). Excellent engineering. I can't recommend it enough. I also have some hefty On Stage brand ...
