I have to agree with basically everyone, about how anyone can put something up, and a company can use it.
what i would be afraid of is that this could become common place, and more crappy gear got reviews using the tape op name, and its credibility went down hill.
just a thought...

Re: Paul Simon is kind of a twat, but...
I grew up listening to Graceland, and it is still one of my favorite records. It seems that he may feed off of stuff he's interested in (Everly Bros., Dylan, African Music) but he also seems to add his own flare. Even with out Ladysmith, Graceland is a cool record. He may be a mook, but he's a great...

Presonus TubePre mods
I got this pre about a year ago, its about a $100 or so, and I am finally getting to put it through some paces. It seems to have a really small amount of headroom, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to improve this... upgrade the tube or replace some circuit (i'm not completely liter...

Re: Panning techniques for just 1 guitar
guitars can been fun. depending on what you are doing, you could try some automation, to make a mono guitar panned be a bit more interesting. you could also try ADT (auto double tracking) which is even easier in digital by just copying a track and pushing forward or backward about 20-30ms. why not t...

Re: HELP!!! Weird clicking noise with optical gear!
Clocking issues are fun. Make sure in your setup that the 002 is not only the slave, but that Pro Tools is also set to the same Sample Rate. ( I know it sounds basic, but sometimes people forget to plug it in)

Re: engineering portfolio sites?
I just finished my site it's here... http://fade.to/ChrisRosenberry and obviously its uner the recording link. As far as audio support, I'm hosting my own audio, and building small movies in flash to do it. you can also use sites like purevolume.com and just link from your site to it. anyway, enjoy!...

Direct to Vinyl...
i've seen several posts on here about recording direct to vinyl. I'm really interested in this, and have a couple of questions for those of you, if any, who are actually doing this. What kind of lathe/cutter are you using? Where do you get your blanks? Is there some place that i can read up on this?...

pro tools control surface on a budget
ok, first i have to admit a bit of a mistake, or may not. i just bought a 002 rack unit, and then realized i hate mixing with a mouse. so i'm looking for a control surface of some sort. i've seen the new digi command 8, but i would like something that had preamps that were a little better than the 0...

mobile recording / monitoring
i'm going to start doing some low budget mobile recording (bands at practice spaces, clubs, etc) and i need a way to monitor what i'm getting.
i am willing to spend a little extra on headphones if i have to, but suggestions from all price ranges would help.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: tapeoppers in savannah, georgia????
i grew up in hilton head, sc which is about an hour north of sav. as i can remember there is not a ton going on down there, but that doesn't nessessarily mean anything. like a lot of others are saying there are college kids down there, and probably a lot of good blues and gulla stuff going on, which...
