Re: Studio/Music equipment insurance
I've got homeowners insurance with State Farm and it covers most of my gear in my home studio. I also have car insurance with them and I get a discount for having more than one policy with them. I pay about $80/month for the two combined.

http://www.elgee.com.au/catalog.html Just curious, have you ordered from them? What was the shipping like from Australia? No I haven't. I was going to order a box for a mic pre I was going to build from scratch, but I ended up getting an N72 kit from Seventh Circle Audio instead. (This pre FUCKIN' ...

Re: You mean cables have different impedance?

There are some that come close when chilled to extreme temperatures, it's called superconductivity. Electric wire is rated for resistivity, the standard unit...

Re: Ok. Who geeked out and recorded fireworks this weekend?
Didn't get any fireworks or thunder, but there is a pond behind my house that has a trillion frogs all croaking, or whatever the hell frogs do, at the same time so I got that and it sounds pretty sweet! Now I just need to work it into a song.

When I'm drunk (just kidding, wait... or am I?) Anyways I just read SIDDHARTHA by Herman Hesse and that made my usually pessimistic self happy at least for a few days. Oh Well there's always SEX, DRUGS & ROCK 'N ROLL!

Re: I'm contemplating moving to a new format...
Do you already have a computer for a DAW setup? If so you could get MOTU HD 192 CORE & 192 EXPANDER interfaces and LOGIC PLATINUM for about $4000. Not too bad for for 24 ins/outs of high definition recording.

Re: need help with nightmare recording session
I've been in a similar situation before where I was frustrated to the point where I just wanted to tell the artist to fuck off, but in the end you have to think to yourself you only have one reputation and are you willing to let these assholes ruin it for you. You have no way of knowing if it will c...

Re: crap sounding records... that are great!
How about the Smashing Pumpkins- Machina II. Awesome album but I believe the only way it was released was that band members gave a couple copies on vinyl (Only 25 total were pressed) to friends and from there it was ripped to MP3 and bootlegged on the internet.
