Re: saving protools le sessions to external hard drives
Thanks for the tip- both drives were set to record, so i switched the internal drive to playback. Still won't let me save a new session to the glyph drive. I'm gonna call up sweetwater , where i got the drive and digi 002, maybe they'll know what the deal is. I just don't wanna lose and data- record...

saving protools le sessions to external hard drives
since we are on the subject- Im using digi 002 protools 6.0.2 on os 10.2.3 and im saving to a compatible glyph 80 gig HD. when i start my session , it asks me where i want to save it to and the option never comes up to save it directly to the hard drive. I have been saving it to the desktop and hopi...

Re: those pre-sonus eureka pre-amp/compressor/para.e.q. any
i haven't heard the summit but i have 2 eureka's and they sound great. Nice round sound to them. Not the most transparent pre i've heard, but it colors the sound in a very vintage, smooth way. DI is very nice. I've tracked vox and guitars through with very pleasing results. Compressor is nice and cl...

Re: distorted/compressed drums
two stereo 57's for the whole kit- hitting a tascam four track so hard it give you that tape compression thing, throw a tube in to that mix somewhere and you've got gold baby!

Re: any one try one of those studio projects vtb-1 mic pres?
they are very nice- The behringer d100? has a similar quality when overdriven, it goes for forty bucks. The behringer doesnt let you switch between impedences on mics, which is huge, also lacks blend feature between solid state and tube paths. Oh behringer sucks too. presonus eureka has a very nice ...

bring it in- I hear the thing is a bitch to allign by yourself. I had channels out of balance, and it only cost me 50 to get it fixed-I use 457 or 456 ( whichever one is the right length, thickness of tape will mess this guy up) and it sounds damn fine.

Asbestos in the studio- a fun time
So i suspect there is some friable asbestos in my studio space- it is insulating some water pipes. Anyone know how much it cost to get rid of this shit? maybe we can work out a trade for some studio time- I have to ask my landlord if he ever got it tested, but i have a feeling this is the crap that ...

I have 2 c1000s' - ive gotten great full kit sound by placing them on the floor 6 ft out from the kit- picks up the a good mix of drums and cymbols, toms sound big and good.
some people don't like 'em as overheads- check em out.

Re: wanting to go analog, somewhat...
how would you dump into the cpu? eight or four separate tracks or mix on the analog deck down to 2 stereo tracks? Tascam 388 is a wonderful reel to reel 8 track and mixer with separate tape outs for each track. Tape hiss is quite unnoticable and when you push the meters and hit the tape hard you get...

Best time to move the gear into a new neighborhood-
So i'm moving my studio, I have loads of original boxes for the gear and i plan on carefully boxing or milk-crating the other gear into the new basement location. It's only a 15 minute drive away. Its in a busier part of the city and i didnt want to advertise the fact that I'm moving in with thousan...

Re: Beginner's PT question...
Yeah Garageband would be the cheapest way for multitracking through the imic- I was trying to use imic with the soundstudio program that comes with osx- a nightmare- pops and clicks everywhere. garageband is $50 in the ilife04 package. Its a cool program, multitracking, loads of virtual instruments ...
