Anyway, thats not my point. The point is that theres always been a lot of popular crap, but just because they are popular doesnt make them all horrible. Look at Led Zeppelin, they were hugely popular, dressed like complete asses and made some of the most pretentious music that ever was. I haven't s...

Wow, i've never gotten rundgren, and i'm not familiar with rick wakeman but thanks, i'll check him out. i don't, and never would use a vocal harmonizer because i like to write harmonies using contrary and oblique melodic lines. everything is parallel on a harmonizer, and in a basic key. or at least...

what if Ben Folds and Rick Wakeman somehow crossbred? I heard a little Rundgren in there too. Being a fan of Rick Wakeman and Ben Folds and Todd Rundgren, I'd have to say I like this. I think the harmony vocals were very well done, especially if you weren't using a harmonizer. Out of curiosit...

Re: I was wrong..I apologize.
Take that, drum take! And that! And that!.... You are comments is always priceless Joel. ...it does really help in 12 minute long prog rock epics. It took a few minutes to get the feel, but once the band and I learned what each punch was all about, it went seamlessly... Word. I've only been p...

There's nothing new under the sun. You can be a man and wear dark makeup and dress outlandishly, and write about the darkside of life...but that's nothing new. And musically speaking, there's nothing new or exciting going on either, in this genre under discussion. If you want metal listen to the fir...

Building a new studio from scratch.
I'm going to do this during the next year. It's not going to be huge. Just enough to fit a couple of drumsets, a piano and have several musicians be able to play in comfortably. I work in construction as an electrician, but the truth is I don't know exactly how to soundproof stuff. I have neighbors ...

I liked TUBelectros eggthamples. Since I do computer based recording, I can completely relate. Interesting thread. I've only had my drums out of phase a couple of times, and I did it with the entire kit. Very cool effect. I recorded myself playing over a couple of measures, loop that with a sampler,...

Re: subliminal messages
1)Do you believe the hype that almost every other record has masquerading done to them on at least a couple of songs....and do you think these messages really have any impact on the subconcious? 2)Are they illegal? If not someone tell me how to do this on Cubase LE which is what I'm using,I think I ...

Prince, or whatever he's called now, had an entire summer of being obsessed with "Hissing of Summer Lawns" when he was in his 20s. I think that's an incredibly under-rated album. I'm not nuts about that tune with the Burundi drummers on it, but there are some great songs on it. When I was at the Un...

While Nick Lachey's "What's Left of Me" is critically acclaimed by MTv and Teen Magazine, I just cant' get into it. I should like it, but I don't. Am I flawed? You'll just have to be more specific about what you don't like about this record. Because for my money, that is a very handsome album cover...
