By the way, the 001 is a workhorse. The only reason I stopped using it is because I'm an upgrade freak and had to have Mac OS 10.4!!! And I had to move to a new DAW platform, Logic Pro!!! Therefor I had to sell my Command|8!!!

So...no need for the 001 anymore.

Which is somewhat odd considering their Core Audio drivers are so bad. If they made their non-DAE drivers better they'd sell a lot more hardware.

The ProTools options out there (besides HD systems) are not inspiring. With LE you've got Mbox and 002/r. With MP you've got M-Audio interfaces.

But as to when we'll see the 003...I think we already did. It's called the M-Audio ProjectMix I/O.

I have never been overly impressed with these drums although I am a hack drum tuner. What are your observations? I have been using Aquarian Studio X heads on top. Thin Remo resonant heads on the bottom.

Rufer, I would have thought the same thing. Joel, I don't have any acoustic treatment other than the exposed brink walls which are very porous. For an idea here are some pics of the rest of the space: http://homepage.mac.com/adeitrich/.Public/images/studio/IMG_0351.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/adeitr...

Omnis as drum overheads in basement studio?

Hi everyone. First off, here's a picture of my room and kit: http://homepage.mac.com/adeitrich/.Public/images/studio/IMG_0320.jpg The ceiling is about 7 feet. I want to get some better overhead mics and am wondering if anyone thinks omnis would be a bad idea in a room with short ceilings. The main r...

I highly doubt the Mbox will work as a stand alone converter. You'd need to have ProTools running on another computer with the Mbox attached in order to do anything useful like that.

Apple hired one of the developers of OMS, I believe, to program MIDI and Audio in OS X. The result is Core Audio. Gibson bought Opcode and let it die. At one point they made the apps available for free but the link appears dead. Read this . I used Vision DSP (lite version) and it was great at the ti...

Actually the MacBook Pro ships in Feb., but the Intel iMac is available now. in any case, none of the main sequencers have been ported to universal binary yet (Apple says Logic Pro will be ready late March), so no one can really run any benchmarks. I highly doubt audio apps will work with rosetta, a...

If the connectors, wiring, and cables are quality, I can't imagine the physical dimensions matter much.
