Mike,

A very ambitious and well conceived song!

You posted a long time ago about the benfits of mastering. You posted the song "Autumn" before and after mastering. That was a beautiful song. This one is great, too. Do you record all the parts yourself?

Thank you evan. The band is me and my friend Max with some female vocals done by friends of ours. When we were writing and arranging the material I pointed out that most of the songs start with acoustic guitar and voice, then the band comes in - not something you want to do on every track. There are...

Two mixes for upcoming album.

Hey everyone. Here are 2 mixes appearing on the upcoming Maxel Toft album. I swtiched from Pro Tools LE to Logic halfway through, so some tracking may have been done in PT. Everything was recorded and mixed in my basement "studio" :) What do you think? I'm at the stage where I'm worrying about bass ...

Amazing thread. Glad I posted the question! The board rocks. Don't get the last few posts.

I am more excited than ever to try some 2-mic setups on my kit.

How do I check for phase?

Phase this phase that. I know it's important to have drum mics in phase, for example, I'm just wondering how the heck I can "check" for this. I don't have a mixing board. Everything basically goes straight into Logic Pro through my I/O. What's the best way? I don't even know what to listen for. Scho...

Another thing I love about that track, and the Police recordings in general, is that even though the production was always amazing, there are mistakes, which make it human. In Spirits In The Material World, sting lets his A string ring open at one point by accident I'm sure. It happens right on the ...

Sting doubled an upright and fender jazz bass all the time. That's what it sounds like on that track to me. Maybe Andy doubled the part on guitar, too, as it sounds like there's an mid-upper octave there.

I would think that next in line to ProTools for widespread use in studios is Logic, so be sure to touch on that when you review the Mac, which brings me to my second point... If there's an eduactional program that wants to truly equip individuals and also earn any kind of reputation...it should prob...
