Re: Building a Recording PC
Honestly, while tapeop, harmonycentral, prosound and all the other audio boards as well as cubase and the other software sites are good I suggest you search around for a "computer" message board. Audio geeks like us know a fair amount about computers but to really get some info I suggest visiting th...

Re: good sounding DAW for under $400?
I've been using the 20 bit echo layla unit for years with great success. The drivers are pretty decent and the sound quality is really good. I know it isn't 24 bit but you could probably get one on ebay for under $300.

Re: sm57 replacement
You might just want to search some of the previous tapeop threads cuz this has been discussed here before. Personally, I've been using a sennheiser E604 for electric guitars and have been getting really good results. I really like the re20 MD421 and the AT 4033. The 421 and 4033 are a slight departu...

Re: ? Expanding 16 channel analog mixer
I don't really have a good answer for your question but since nobody else had stepped up yet I figured I might offer a few suggestions until someone more enlightened comes along. You could certainly link up two mixers. Quite simply I don't know if the Yamaha has any buses (I'm not familiar with that...

Re: Delay Pedal
Thanks to everyone for there input. A few questions: For those of you who have or are familiar with the memory man how would you compare it to a boss dd-3 or dd-6? A couple of you recommended the Line 6 delay pedal. I did have the oppertunity to try one out a while back and from what I recall it see...

Delay Pedal
I know this isn't really the right forum to ask this question but I know that many of you also play guitar so I really wanted to get some insight. I just started playing in a band again and would really like to get a delay pedal. I got about $150 or I could probably save an extra $50 or so if thats ...

Re: Tascam US-224 & 428
Well, I don't mean to be a jerk but I do think you need to do some more research before you go out and buy anything. Otherwise you'll wind up with things that aren't good, aren't compatible or you just don't like. I would start with www.studiocovers.com and poke around, reading anything and everythi...

Re: Tascam US-224 & 428
Then I would recommend the US-224 if thats truely what you want. Having the extra faders with the 428 would be nice but it doesn't sound like you really need them nor the extra inputs so I would use that money to buy a nice mic or something. Also, I don't know if the unit integrates with Fruity Loop...

Re: Tascam US-224 & 428
I have the US-224 and I have to say I like it quite a bit. I though about springing for the 428 but I didn't need the extra inputs or the faders. I primarily use the US-224 w/my laptop for recording on the road but it makes a nice controller in my studio. It integrates nicely with Cubase SX I just w...

Re: wasn't there a thread about RAMSA mixers recently?
I got a Ramsa WR-8118 which is 18 channels, 4 buses, one Aux send and inline monitoring with direct outs and inserts on every channel. Personally I think its a great board if you get it pretty cheap. I think the pres are pretty much on par if not slightly better than the Mackie, Behringer stuff but ...

Re: What does 'FET' mean?
FET stands for field effect transistor. I believe they were the first transistors made to work like tubes. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more can add some more insight or correct me if need be.
