I would suggest getting a PCI Firewire Card.

Having another Firewire bus would be a great thing.

The G4 would be helped out with the card.

I've also heard of this company a few years back, but never heard any of the products. The preamp sounds pretty good. The price is excellent. Now, I can reference it when I consider mic preamps.

If you need more than 2 track or 4 track input....or If you want, you can still use the Digi 001 with OSX and PTLE 6.4.

It's cool.
If 9.22 is good for you now, 6.4 will be fine too.
I'd just put an accellerator into the Mac.
