Re: Anybody play with mono mixes?
I heard Pet Sounds in mono years ago and didn?t get what the big deal was. It wasn?t until I heard it in stereo and could hear all the instruments and sounds that I got it. It floored me! Pet Sounds is now my favorite album. I own it on almost every format LP, mono CD, stereo CD, and 5.1. I still n...

Anybody play with mono mixes?
I recently picked up Pet Sounds, and it includes both the original mono and stereo remix from the 90's. Instinctively, I listened only to the stereo for the longest time, then recently gave the mono mix a go, and was surprised to find that there were aspects to the mono mix that appealed to me. I wo...

Re: wanna help BETA test my new website??
You're rates are so bloody low, it might be worth a trip to Detroit... Here in DC, $40 an hour is about as low as you're gunna get. Guess there's a lot o' competition in rock town, usa... DC isn't exactly known as a musical mecca

Re: WHITE STRIPES
Here's another entry into the malestrom (which it isn't, really). I agree with heylow that Jack White is an extremely talented fellow. I think that he's a genuinely great songwriter, for one. And I actually like Meg's drumming a lot. It's basic & raw, and the grooves that she chooses are rocking. Wi...

Advice for attaching new headstack
I have a Tascam 22-2 and I bought a new headstack. Now comes the fun part: Installing it. I've never done this before. I've never opened up a reel to reel deck before. However, I am good with electronics in general, and feel as if I can pull it off. The guy who sold me the heads said I have two opti...

Re: Best Cassette multitrak?
Tascam 238. It doesn't have a built in mixer, tho. It's rack mounted, and I believe was the state of the art for cassette multitracking in it's day. I've used them. They sound great, considering you're using a cassette. I've heard them described as the best 8 track cassette deck ever made. Gotta hav...

Tascam 22-2 for mixdown/mastering
Any opinions on a Tascam 22-2 as a mixdown deck? I'm refurbishing one for just such a purpose. I'll be running 8 tracks from my Otari 5050 through an analog board, to boot. Trying to add some analog song to my digital bites...
