Re: Do legendary albums have one consistent sound?
Returning to the original topic, I find that a lot of the most amazing albums are less consistant in style that they are in sonic structure. Take Ziggy Stardust - you have a variety of songs ("Five Years" is not the same style as "Suffragette City") but a continual sonic thread... most of the same ...

U can use a bus.. which is the same as a sub group.. but without the fader before the output. This works if you're running out of Channel strips.

jacki- whatever you do, DO NOT go to school for anything related to the music industry. Ever notice how you cant major in say, cement industry or something like that? ITs all just business, its all the same rules, it all revolves around economics yet with the amount of people dying to work in the m...

Re: Question - digital and analog VU levels
Well -18digital doesn't always equal 0 VU. At our post house, we run at -20 because we upload out spots to fastchannel (an advertisement distributor) and that's what they require. I've even heard of people using -12 to equal 0 VU. Who does this I dont' know.. But It's all kinda relative now, cause s...

If you dont' want to be technical, going more digital could be a better route. Analog tends to be more techy.. in my opinion..

Re: Do legendary albums have one consistent sound?
I am moslty familiar with rock era music, and during the rock era it seems that the best albums had a consistant sound, but that consistancy came more from the fact that the artists used the same studio to mix the album as well as mostly the same insturments, and recorded the project at the same st...
