Re: Preamps
Personally, I've been extremely happy with the mic pre's on my Behringer UB1204FX Pro. The pre's are their IMP's (invisible mic pre-amp) and are very clean and extremely quiet. The combination of their "Pro" series power supply (which is wholly quiet) and Mogami cables I get floor readings around -...

Re: INDIE ROCK GUITAR !!!! Teisco Del Ray K-56
I'll be damned.... The last time I used my Tiesco was for a cheese slicer. That's all it was really good for. The Pup's were so microphonic if you stalked close to them you could hear yourself in the amp. This re-issue has GOT to have better build quality than that, right? No offence to you Gearbuzz...

Re: Gear Lust: Tips on Saving Money
Every time I buy something, If I break a bill, I put the etire change into coffee cans. I have 3 2lb coffee cans filled already.
I only touch the money on a precribed time period, say 1 year...
Works for me.

Re: Looking for a turntable... Direct or Belt drive?
I have a Thorens TD 123 Mk II. I bought it used in 1974 for $700.00 with a SME tonearm. They haven't made a turntable yet that could touch it for non DJ activities. Direct drive is definitely for Hip-Hop/DJ stufff.

Hey I'm 53 years old and have been recording since 1965, but only as an hobby. I've retired early and am looking at starting a second carreer at something I've always been pationate about. I'd be glad to learn anything someone with solid experience has to teach. Jeez what a looser... BTW I even lear...

Inverseroom, Where the hell would one get a bakelite tone bar?!!? None on eBay that I can find... That's exactly where I got mine. There was one on auction this weekend. search for "Black Rahjah". The amber one was my dad's. I've never seen another like it. That "Brad's Pages of Steel" is one of th...

Inverseroom, That's a model I don't recognize, but I've never played a National I didn't like!!!! Congtratulations and enjoy that axe. Do you know which tuning you're gonna use yet? I'd get a small tonebar for that puppy. I have one that's 3" long and 5/8" in diameter. It's made from amber colored b...

Re: Lap Steel Choices
Tonewoods, That's a nice guiatr you have there, but the picture is kind fuzzy (for my old eyes). Is that a Model "BD" you got there? It looks like it has the pre-war "silver" front plates but not a string through... Do you know it's history? I play mine through a Mesa/Boogie MK IV with a 2-15 cabine...

Re: Lap Steel Choices
In my opinion, the Ricks's are great. I have a Fender Champ too but it just doesn't have the tone of the Rick I had (with the big horseshoe pickup, metal body stuffed with old newspaper!). Drew Yeah the champ is more like a "Rolling Stones" type of sound, whereas my Ricky is glassy smooth and as sw...

Nationals have a real good tone. Didya happen to notice who the high bidder is, and has been all day? DON'T TOUCH IT, MUHFUHS...
