Sound City 50 Plus head? how about a pair of Fane Crescendo speakers? next pick: EV SROs (later ceramic magnet version is the ancestor of the 12L, earlier version apparently used an alnico magnet and is supposed to have a looser, smoother low end.) just try some things out with the head and use your...

on the super cheap, Musician's Fiend sells both square and round necked spider resonator guitars by Rogue for $200 without a case.

mixed reviews.

what roscoenyc said about try before you buy, tho...not really possible with MF.

for cheap closed phones that i can listen to for long periods i have found not much better than the Sennheiser HD 202.

they usually run USD $20-$25.

biggest downsides: somewhat hyped bass and slightly muffled mids compared to cans priced $100 and higher, but still listenable.

I guess it's another personal preference thing. . .but I just like my gear clean. I even wash my hands before I play. . .and yes. . .even gigs. . .even rock gigs! -J Oh yeah, I wash my hands before I play, definitely. Can't stand to play with grubby hands. Sometimes I'll take breaks during sessions...

on an acoustic it would probably keep the top from vibrating and mess badly with the tone. so i wouldn't think it would be a good idea.

i've seen photos of drummers in the studio with a Crown PZM taped to their shirt over their chest. i tried this years ago and it sounded great to me when augmented with a second mic on the kick. you can certainly add more mics from there, but it seems to be a good starting point sometimes.

i get around having to shave off top by recording with dynamic or (less frequently) ribbon mics to start with.

get it happening as you put it down with the mix in mind.

this isn't really possible when you're mixing tracks someone else recorded, though.
