And speaking of sample modules, there's a local selling an EMU Proteus-1 sound module for $80. I don't have any experience with those things, and not that it matters, since I can't afford even $80, but is it something you'd pick up if you had $80? if it was 100% functional, i would jump on it for $...

non-EQed one is really nice.

i'm hearing a little resonance around the freq you mentioned, but that's pretty much par for the course with a cranked reverb.

the EQed one sounds like the guitar is coming down a cardboard tube, not good.

i used to sequence synth and keyboard parts back in the 90s alot, but over the past decade it's been mostly played parts with the occasional beatbox or loop.

once in a blazing blue moon i will use MIDI to layer a couple of hardware synths together (one of the original intended uses).

buffered low-Z guitar electronics are great and all, but good luck using that with something like a Fuzz Face or Fuzz Factory (or any other Fuzz Face derived fuzz) that wants to be fed a high impedance signal.

Akai E2 Headrush!

EDIT: the DL4 is really flexible as a looper (i have one and love it for that), but they have a history of dying unexpectedly for no apparent reason.

I don't get it... You bought this box years ago, stuffed it in your closet, now you've dug it out and are asking an online forum what it's for and how does it sound? Why don't you try just plugging it in and using it to find out for yourself how it sounds and what it does? Is it just me? or... it's...

maybe high band count vocoding using two different non-synth sources for both the carrier and the modulator signals?

thinking out loud here.

i've been watching this as well.

do you have the concert film of the first one from 2001?

worth a viewing or three.

i lived in NZ in '97-'98 and miss it (as it was back then, at least) alot.

oh yes!

try to get the display, too (separate add-on unit that displays interval in cents or semitones).

i think you can find the diagram for the footswitch online somewhere so you can build your own.

a great sound!

for my first nearly 10 years of recording i used an omni Realistic mic (replaced at one point with a Realistic PZM, which i thought was really hifi at the time) over the kit and a borrowed 58 sitting inside the kick on a pillow. if i ignore the cassette multitrack artifacts, it still sounds pretty g...

All good input. Thanks guys. However, my flip side is more complicated. I view it as having my "name" stamped on it and if someone else hears it and thinks, "this sounds like dog shit..." then my reputation takes a hit.....doesn't it? Sure, but remember that KennyG does sell a lot of records. Your ...
