In order for anything to be locked to the grid, everything has to have the same clock. The clock on your computer and the clock on your drum machine run at slightly different speeds, so 4 or 5 minutes down the road, you get a trainwreck. Have your friend download Reaper, I'm pretty sure that it has ...

What track or tracks did everyone have to mess with the most to get it to do what they liked in the mix? The guitar took the most work. But I was more surprised at the lack of stereo micing. There were 3 'overheads' but not a stereo pair, they were just different distances. Some of the instruments ...

I put the verb in with the drums so that the verb breathes with them. It's the same basic thing as sending a room mic to the buss and compressing it with the drums. Nuendo 5 comes with an amp sim, I used that with the amp part bypassed. The cabinets are just numbered, so I have no idea what they are...

Unfortunately, I'm on the other side of the country right now, so I can't look at the session. But, from what I remember, the kick and snare are both samples. I chose samples that sounded like the drums that were recorded. The only reason I used samples was because of the amount of bleed and the amo...

The only downside to using a CD burner is that you are skipping the mastering process. It's not as if CD burners can be used to make replication masters. If you are sending your music out to get mastered, you would want to give the mastering engineer a 24 bit file instead of a 16 bit audio CD that's...

In theory (I have a PC, but I doubt it would be different), when you create a project, it asks you what folder you want the project in. Normally, you would create a folder for that song and select that. Then, Cubase will create the audio and edits folders and it should deposit the .npr and .bak file...

The New York style (it goes by any number of names) is generally understood to mean sending something to two busses, compressing the crap out of one and leaving the other one alone. This will bring up all the low level stuff while still maintaining the original transients of the material. So you can...
