Re: Any opinion about molded earplugs ?
I tend to think that any kind of earplugs changes things enough to make it hard to do live mixing, and I'm in the position of having increasingly sensitive hearing as I get older. So looking at like right now I want to find something with at least 15dB of reduction but no change in frequency respon...

Re: Any opinion about molded earplugs ?
For the ones with both filters (15 & 25), do you regret getting both ? In Canada they are 100$ for an extra set of filters. I'm playing in a garage/punk band with loud drummer. Band rehearsals hit 112-115db, the snare is getting 112db, the amps around 105db. The venues I go are not really quiet too....

Any opinion about molded earplugs ?
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on molded earplugs. What are your experience with them ? Are them that much of an upgrade from the generic ER-20 which I use since 15 years? Etymotics makes 9, 15 and 25db filters. I use them mostly for band rehearsals and playing/seeing shows. I'm afraid 25 db...

Non-functionnal reel-to-reel: should I fix before selling?
Hey ! I'm doing a cleanup and have a Otari MX5050 BII2 and a TEAC A-3300SX that were in storage for 15+ years. Both are non-functionnal right now. I'm wondering if I should get them serviced/fixed and sell them at higher price or if I should let them go as-is for less money ? I dont have any idea of...

Re: Can I install Logic pro on two computers?
I won't ever run them at the same time, I will either do tracking with the macbook OR mixing at my station at home.

Can I install Logic pro on two computers?
If I buy Logic Pro and want to use it on two computers, let's say, an imac for main work/mixing at home and a macbook when I'm tracking at my rehearsal space, both sharing the same icloud drive so I can work on the same session, is this something possible?

Re: Kick drum: port hole or not?
Obviously I know I have to find my "prefered sound". I just wanted some tips before cutting a hole in a "not quite cheap" kick drum head to experiment But I guess there is no such way around if I want to find out for real... !
thx

Re: Kick drum: port hole or not?
And as a counter example, on Little Fury (Breeders, Title Tk), to me it was recorded with a port hole, or maybe even no reso head at all. No resonance at all. Am I right?

Re: Kick drum: port hole or not?
As an exemple, do you think the kick sound on this Weezer song (Tired of sex, Pinkerton) was with a port hole or not? We still hear the resonance from the head but we also get the attack from the beater. If I can achieve this type of sound with the port hole, then I do not worry. https://www.youtube...

Re: Kick drum: port hole or not?
I guess I'll have to cut the hole and experiment ! But in your experimence, is a drum head without a port hole can still give a focused and tight sound?

Kick drum: port hole or not?
Hi,
I just acquired a nice 3-ply Ludwig from the 70s for my band and recording. Right now there is no port hole on the reso head, and I'm wondering if I should cut one or not. I know it can change the sound a lot and not sure about what I should do. Any advices/experiences?
Thx

Echoboy vs Echoboy jr
Hi want to buy this plugin since there is a big sale right now. Which of the 2 would you recommend me? My main use will be for slapback and analog degradation. If I get the JR, will I regret it ? ;) It's 29$ vs 49$, not a big difference but the simplicity of the JR interface seem more practical and ...
