I've heard of this before but honestly can't sympathize. If you turn a knob and you don't hear a difference something's wrong. Did it just the other day in fact, I was trying to EQ a track and couldn't hear my tweaks/changes, then realized the plugin I was using was actually in bypass mode. But not ...

I'm sure they do, if you read what they are doing and search around you can find photos of some of their mods. They are replacing 4580 op amps with one of my fav's (BB2134) and doing larger cap replacement, along with tying the power rails to avoid other ill's. All in all it's higher fidelity you c...

I bought my 2i2 for my laptop because it was cheap and I had the intention of upgrading later. But I soon realized it was actually a really decent box. The pre's are actually quite nice, even a little silky, and I've gotten great results (IMO) using my outboard pre's with it using the 1/4" inputs on...

Is the final product going out for mass distribution? If not, then professional mastering isn't really necessary, it would be a luxury. I master my own stuff and it's so much fun, but my music isn't distributed nationwide. If my music were going out to the masses though I wouldn't hesitate to pony u...

If you're not too keen the ins and outs of compression, start with a dbx163. Track bass, vocals, kick and snare with it. It's incredibly simple and neat sounding, but also pretty forgiving. If you want to get the feel for outboard stuff and what it does, ART makes great inexpensive pieces that cove...

I have ADK's A6 and really enjoy it. Definitely a decent quality build with a simple, clean circuit. Quality transformers, clean wiring, etc. The weird thing about the A6 though is there's virtually no sibilance when using it for vocals. Freaked me out the first time I used it for vox. Anyway, great...

I've had a pair of AKG K44's since '01 that are still in awesome condition. They don't have the audiophile (hi-fi) sound of higher $$ phones but they're closed back, they obviously last, and they seem pretty dang honest to me. Especially compared with my Sony MDR-7506's. Nice, long cord on them too.

Yes. And for example, didja learn anything in my short reviews of the tube mic's? Do you agree, disagree, or have some related comment? Some unrelated comment? Do you want to try them, now? Did you read the Joel PATTERSON (I listed the author incorrectly, above  ) review here ? Do you have an...

I love the Sonnox Oxford which you already have. It's gorgeous. Focusrite's Scarlett suite has a smooth and useful verb. Other than that, I dig the sound of an old Lexicon mpx100 (90's?). It's a simple box and has a really cool special fx patch that combines reverb/delay. Very nice and useful for na...
