I've done it before with a single 57, over the right shoulder placed up high, pointing
almost straight down. Sounded absolutely fantastic UNTIL the cymbal bashing
begun...
So if the drummer can go light on the cymbals, this could really work well, depending
on the room etc...

"I'm gonna shout out at the ocean.... hey it's ME! and I feel like a number..." As for recording my own music, I'm like Ryan Silva. Start as 3, then the art comes into focus partially by itself. As I notice what it could become I transition to a 2. Although on my newest batch of songs I had to start...

Love my original blackface ART MPA. A lot. Actually been using it to master program material, followed by it's matching original PRO VLA. The two in series just rule on program material, it was a nice surprise to discover that... And always delivers as a mic pre. Great simple ergonomics and metering...

I agree with all of the above advice. If you're going to buy a Fender, regardless of where it was made, you have to sit and play a bunch of them. Bottom line, they are bolted together from parts. Some of them come together well and some of them don't. One good indicator in my experience is, take a l...

I still use my blackface ADATs all the time, and I still reformat and use my old mid 90's tapes. I have yet to have a single problem doing that, or even pulling up an old tape for transfer. Hell, I've even busted out tapes very recently and just done straight up remixes, not even transfers. Zero pro...

3035 on kick is ridiculous. Since I tried it about three years ago, I have yet to try a different mic and get a better kick sound. It is now my go to kick mic! Just the other day my band and I started a long term setup to track an album with. Ahh, the sweet luxury of being able to just leave it set ...

vocals? VLAII for sure, it's character is great on vocals. owned one briefly, loved it on vocal. original VLA, not so much on vocals. never liked it there personally... don't rule out the inexpensive 163x, it rules on vocals i think. i have the original VLA, 163x's, symetrix 501. 163x is my fave on ...
