L2 Limiter plugin... how to use
hello I've been trying to use the L2 Limiter plugin and am a little confused. I am working at 24bit / 48Hz with the intention of putting this audio to CD, so converting the audio to 16bit / 44.1HZ at the last stage. I need to use the limiter on the audio, so I guess I should requantize for 16bit at ...

right, yeah this makes sense... speakers compress audio I've reamped some other acoustic instruments, mostly horns...though of course not through the horn again! haha... depending on the amp and its settings, you can add sharpness or beef up the sound, like compression could do... but a bit differen...

Re: Question about snare reamping
Hey everyone, playing it back through a guitar cabinet which is on its back, and then I have a snare drum upside down on top of the speaker. Wait a second, are you saying that you're playing back the recorded snare track out of a speaker and "through" a real snare drum? And then recording that? I h...

Forrest Mims
Hey, don't forget Forrest M. Mims III's Getting Started in Electronics (a radioshack publication...2000 I think)...and his Timer, Op Amp & Optoelectronic Circuits & Projects (also radioshack...1998 I think)... both REALLY easy (and funny) to read...many cute drawings...diode sweating, transistors ju...

brilliant. Did you just sand down the fingerboard, or did you coat it with something you had around? -marc I was originally thinking of putting a coat or two of shellac, I was afraid of the strings chewing up the neck... I haven't so far because it doesn't seem to be a problem so far.. if I start t...

made a fretless cookie tin banjo
hey there, I made a fretless cookie tin banjo. I've posted images and an audio clip on my site (the clip recorded with my newly made electret..the usual wm-61a tape op electret... working on the linkwitz mod soon) hope you enjoy it... rather easy to make if you have patience... and well worth making...

oops
oops I the resistor I meant to say was excluded was not the one that joins terminals 2 & 3 (they all have that one)...I meant the other one (on linkwitz's own drawing) on the right, just beside the amp symbol

linkowitz's drawing of his mod vs. others
hey, I'm ready to try out the famous linkowitz mod for the wm-60ay electret (made one mic without the mod, too noisy, distorts rather easily) taking a look at his drawing (the first one attached here), he has a 10k resistor connecting terminal 2 on the electret to terminal 3... From http://www.linkw...

Re: Ohms and Headphones
 I'm going to have to take a class, or read lots of books, regarding this stuff. But for now, Roboburger, you said: "it's best to make things tolerant of each other.... If you make the output impedance higher and input impedance lower, slightly, than what you expect would happen, you are being...

Re: Ohms and Headphones
Roboburger, are you saying that high impedance means higher quality sound? I imagine (please correct me where needed) that in a high impedance situation, because we're dealing with a hot signal over a "quiet recording level" (ie- high impedance), then we're dealing with a better signal-to-noise rati...

Re: Ohms and Headphones
New guy question: So Ohms are purposefully "put in place"/"decided" by the designer to protect speakers? I'm looking to buy a pair of the Sennheiser HD280. The Pro or Silver has an impendance of 64 ohms, versus the HD280-13 which has a 300 Ohms rating I'm recording and providing foldbacks with a rol...
