Yeah, that's how I had mine setup. In the console, I set inputs 1-6 to hardware output 3, 7-12 to hardware output 4, etc., then you can mix them with a line mixer for headphone monitoring. So effectively you could create any combination of inputs to monitor through a hardware output. I used a Roland...

http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=83628 Yes. I just sold mine for a Focusrite Saffire box. The routing is not good. I ended up using an external line mixer to sum zero-latency inputs and DAW playback (two pairs of outputs on the Audiofire) into a single headphone out. Really annoying an...

unless you put each overhead on a separate track, it's going to still be in mono. if you got a good drum sound with a single mic last time, i'd start there. i also have a 22-4. one thing you could try, if your machine is in good shape, is to record to tape and dump to digital on the fly. basically ...

Question re: routing and bus fx
This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm wondering what is the best way to use a compressor across a bus during recording if I only have standalone preamps, and no console? Let's say I wanted to put some light compression on all my drum tracks (6-7 tracks), but I've only got preamps and no way to...

- Topic: Is recording on 4-track cassette still viable?

Is giving 1/4" or 1/2" reel a try unfeasible? I never messed with cassette much, but I have a Tascam 22-4 1/4" 4 track. It's not too convenient for laying down ideas quickly, like a cassette 4-track would be, but 1/4" tape is cheap and it sounds loads better than cassette. It's a nice tool to have ...

Check out Subsonic: http://www.subsonic.org/ I have it running on a Linux server in my house. It will run on Windows too. It streams video and audio over your network. There's an app for iPhone and a Roku channel, so I can stream downloaded videos/etc to my TV, or music to the Roku (hooked up to a s...
