I'm looking for some basic CAD software which will run on Mac.
Cheap and simple. I'm not designing a highrise here.
Any suggestions?

vox pathfinder or epiphone valve jr. ?
Looking to pick up a cheap small amp for recording guitars and reamping.
I've heard good things about both of these.
Any recommendations?

AD converters on M-Audio FW 410
Are they fine?
I'm pretty ignorant about AD converters.
I've got two good preamps (UA 2108 and a Vintech Dual 72) running into the 410.
Haven't gotten a chance to A/B with anything else, so I'm working in happy ignorance.
But would I (or you) notice a big difference if I invested in something better?

Me, I would (while saving for a 57 or 58), try every possible option with what you have. Until you get a mic stand, see if he can sing/scream holding the mic a few inches or a foot from his mouth. If that's distracting, hang the mic over a ceiling fan and, with some creative duct-taping, rig the mic...

I assure you I'm very polite and communicative with the sound guys. No use getting pissy with them. The main problem is they can't seem to get the vocals in the monitors loud enough. I don't get it. I'm not all that soft of a singer. And there's been one or two who managed to get the vocals loud eno...

getting a better live vocal sound
My band is playing lots of shitty clubs these days, and as I sing instead of scream, the "sound" guys don't know what to do with it. Even if they manage to get a good FOH mix, the monitor mix usually sucks. I'm frustrated by how flat the vocals are when I can't hear myself. Any tips? I usually sing ...

what would YOU do with two (2) personalized iPods?
My wife, bless her heart, wanted to get me an iPod for Valentine's day. So she clicked to add a Nano to the shopping cart, then decided to get me the 30G one instead. Forgot to delete the Nano from the cart, and so now I have a Nano and a 30G iPod, both personalized with a loving inscription on the ...

recommend me some instrumental hip hop
Never really got into hip hop before, but I just got turned on to Prefuse 73 and RJD2 and I'm lovin' it.
The production is excellent and there's something like song structure going on there. Dope.
Recommend some more stuff like this?

quick and dirty drum mastering for backing track
I'm trying to master backing drums for a show. The tracks are a mess of electronic and real sampled drums, so there's no consistency in EQ levels. Any advice as to what my EQ curve should look like so that house sound guys are going to be happy with my signal? Not too much farting bass, etc.? Cut ev...

someone's using my band name!
What do you do when another band starts using your band name? I wrote them a very sweet email letting them know it was already taken, but they're being dicks, even posting stupid shit on my Amazon.com page. I know I've got the legal right to the name (I am in law school, after all), but enforcing is...

Um, maybe I'm the idiot here, but I thought that website was hilarious.
