I just picked up drumagog a couple of weeks ago. It's super easy to use right away and has been a godsend on the project I'm currently mixing. It's seriously great software. And yes, just a year or so ago I was preaching the evils of sound replacement/ augmentation. How quickly things change when yo...

i've never used vst stuff or drumagog, but cant you still bounce those down to audio tracks? I suppose I could record their output to new tracks, yes. Just can't run them out of the Audiosuite, which is nice and fast. Make sure you are booting your laptop with the power cable plugged into the wall ...

Yea, you're right about the buss speed which has been in the back of my mind. And I was always suspicious about how the laptop power setup would affect overall performance. Anyway, I worked through the tuning list on the page and it really seems to help a good bit. Most of them I'd already addressed...

It's a Core 2 Duo, 2gig processor, 100 gig, 7200 rpm hard drive, 2 gig RAM. Dell Laptop. IMHO, it should be more smokin' than my desktop that's just a P4, 1.5 gig RAM, but it's not. Maybe even has a bit more trouble keeping up. I'm running PTLE 7.3. Thanks for the link, I'll spend some time there to...

Glad to know I wasn't telling you something that was old news. The way that I've been doing it, is maybe a bit different than described above. First I make sure that I have all of my fades, etc. in place if I've been editing or punching in. I then highlight all of the tracks starting at the end of t...

You may already be all over this but make sure you've consolodated your tracks to start at zero, and then export as files from the region list. Any other program should open them just fine and you shouldn't have to line up anything since they all start at 0. As for other session data etc. I believe ...

I've been doing that with the ones that I can, but I'm using a bunch of wrapped VST's and drumagog on a couple of tracks. Just curious if any computer guru's can point me in the direction of where I might be able to adjust how much RAM is allocated to PT. Seems that it's easy to do on a Mac, I just ...

Memory Allocation

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the amount of RAM is allocated to ProTools? If it is possible, can you walk me through it? I'm using a PC with WinXP. If that's not possible, does anyone know of less obvious tweaks to the system to get a little better performance? I've already got it runn...

My solution for that has just been to monitor through Analog 1/2 through my console while tracking. All headphone mixes, etc. come off of that. Seems to work out alright, although it limits "mix as you go" a good bit. I can deal with that. Otherwise I haven't fussed with it too much to offer a real ...

One thing I like with PT. If you know how to use it, you can walk into pretty much any "pro" studio anywhere and get down to work with very little learning curve.

You can also bring your session files with you, or take them home to work there.

Everything is just that much easier, IMHO.

Wrapped VST's Not Showing Up

I'm using fxpansion 2.0, and PT LE 7.3. Some of the plugs do show up as wrapped VSTs and some are not availible in the plugin list when I try to insert on a channel. They do show up either in the fxpansion folder or in the ProTools plug-ins folder but don't show up on any list anywhere in PT. Any id...

Ok I took the plunge and got one. It's really nice to be able to just plop down in front of the TV or in the living room or be in bed, on the pot or whereever and edit/ mix, whatever. It was worth it to me. Haven't tried out the pre's for tracking yet. Will post back when I do. Ok, I haven't taken i...

Funny, I ran into this issue last night and was about to really freak out after a while. I was just getting ready to post the same question. Thanks for the post and reply - you articulated it better than I would have. Any idea how this randomly gets switched on without going anywhere near the "opera...
