Re: Paul Simon is kind of a twat, but...
I don't think Paul Simon has ever tried to hide the fact that he uses other music to create his own. To call it thievery seems a little short sighted, that's all. I'm no great "Paul Simon Advocate", believe me, but he's NOT a rip off artist. He may not play by the rules when it comes to "inspiration...

Re: LIVE RECORDING WITH PROTOOLS LE
The only problem you'll run into is monitoring. Latency isn't an issue if you're recording a live band and they aren't queing off of the Pro Tools software. If, however, you're talking live in the studio, with phones being driven by the Pro Tools software mixer, it might be a problem. Having said th...

As good as a songwriter as he is -- you just can't get over the fact that the guy is a little weenie. He's made his whole career basically ripping people off, and being kind of crafty about it. Starting with the Everly Brothers when he and Garfunkel were teenagers, then Dylan and Irish folk music, ...

I like the C1 for a bright pop sound. RE-20 for a rockier sound. GT33 for something in the middle.

Re: Cymbal Glare
It isnt the bands fault for playing a certain way, even if you dont really like the style. That's true but... ...a lot of guys hit their cymbals that way because it works live. The guitars are blaring through a Crate stack with an Ibanez, then a Metal Zone stomp box in front. I guess I'd smack the ...

Try to spring for a FMR RNP. Well worth the little bit of extra cash. Under $500 bucks I think. I forget what I spent, but it sounds fab.

Re: Create out of phase studio monitors for live vocal track
Mono mix sent to both speakers One speaker reversed polarity Mic at a perfect triangle to the speakers The singer has 2 ears. The mic has 1. If you use a fairly dead room, the mic won't hear that much bleed due to the cancelation. The singer, on the other hand will hear everything just fine due to t...

Redirect your relflections. Kill the shortest reflections with 703 board and send the longest path upward with a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Having a 12 foot ceiling makes that room OK as far as actual volume. You just need to make sure your reflections are taking the long way home.

Re: Final Mixdowns with a DAW... what are YOU doing???
It's not a buss but an automation group . It just pulls down all the faders except the master fader. This keeps the mix in exact ratio but lowers the level in the master. :D Does this work if some of the tracks have fader automation? In other words, does it bring down all the automation points in r...
