Re: Which 'Version' (Oktava 012)

just to throw whats already been said a bunch out there again... I bought 2 of em at gtr center & they sounded way different tonally & one was way louder than the other.. I played with em a bit but ended up taking them back since I wanted them as a stereo pair.. neat mics. I tested em on cymbals, sn...

Re: new vs. old reverb

cool, thanks for the votes so far... I think I will get the m300 for now...maybe next year get something really nice. I almost always hear the tc is the better way to go than the cheap lexicon stuff.

new vs. old reverb

tomorrow I plan on buying a reverb/delay unit. The tc electronics m300 is around $200...then again a used spx90 is also around that price? Which would you choose? or is there something else you would rather have in that price range? I used to have an eventide 3000 harmonizer that was wonderful...but...

Re: professionals recording practice amps?

Say someone comes in to record with a marshall head & 4 x 12 cab. Would you guys suggest having a 1 x 12 speaker box around to replace the 4x12 for recording? You wouldn't have to worry about the sound of the other 3 speakers but wouldn't you also lose a little bass because of the smaller size of th...

Re: Direct

this is a great topic. I bought myself a summit audio td 100 di that I was hoping would be the end all coolest bass di. So far I haven't loved it by itself. I've used it with a miced cab with good results but by itself it hasn't rocked my world yet...kinda soft sounding. I did just record a bass wit...

Re: guitar practice amps

Tech21 TM10 ....the built in sansamp makes this little guy pretty amazing. I recorded a guy direct with one the other day..everyone around loved the sound. I didn't try micing it but even the speaker sounded good. The guy played a music man van halen gtr with it. We got tons of great tones. We were ...

Re: recording cover songs

Thanks for all the responses...I'll pass it along... good advice...I won't worry about small time demo's with covers but if they are planning on sending 100's of copies to labels I think I'll have em try to go thru the right channels & get permission..I'll do more research

recording cover songs

What if a band recorded someone elses song without permission & got caught. They are just small time local band that plans on selling a few 100 cd's at shows. I know it's against the law & just wrong, but what could the artist or record company do? Could I get in any trouble for recording it? Or if ...

Re: AKG C1000

They make great overheads. I use mine with the ua2-610 & cymbals sound great. I have tried the c3000 in the same application & I have always liked the c1000 quite a bit more for overheads.

cool..I'll avoid the super cheap ones... but keep talking if you know of any other cool bargains you'd like to talk about.

I have used an spx 90 but it's been years...that could be a cool way to go. theres one on ebay for $200

Re: C1 on vocals

I'll ad another vote for the mic on Vox...I love it on most people. Another cheap mic I like on a lot of vox is that marshall mxl V69 mogami tube mic.

do you like your cheap lexicon?

I'm sure some of you have tried the mpx 100 that is always on ebay for just over $100. Are they totally worth it for the $$ or are they something I might outgrow soon & should just skip? Any other cheap fx finds you guys wanna brag about? Like I have a cheap so & so but to tell you the truth I like ...

Re: anyone tried Behringer DSP8024 Ultra Curve RTA?

dwelle, let me know what you think of it. I got the 8024 in the mail & I'm not quite as happy as I was because it's a little noisy. I still think it's worth the money since it really helped my mixes a lot & I've learned a little about my rooms. At home it was even noisier so I don't think I'll be us...

Re: recording super heavy doom ala Wizard

wow..it came out great...I spent about 10 hours getting sounds...After I got the drums to sound right the rest just fell into place. The bass was loud & came thru all the mic's..but it still worked out ok for this kind of music..I used a 57 & we & also had a di on the bass. I really wanted to use my...
