first picked up Tape Op because in its pages I saw interviews with guys like Bob Pollard and Robert Schneider, guys who were very much following the DIY path. I saw a magazine that was more concerned with guys and gals with day-jobs making records with limited means in their bedrooms than with Andy...

did you check the connections:

mics to mixer?
mixer to amp to speakers?

i have this record player (which i'm listening to now) that likes to do the same thing.. it's always the phono plugs that need a good cleaning..

a good place to start..

Recorded Media Supply in Burbank, California. They'll ship anywhere in the United States and if you're out of state, that means tax free. Call them at 818-562-6527. Every major studio in Los Angeles relies on them.
