Thanks for help. It's good to hear some thoughts and insites on brands I have little to no experience with. I try and do some research on the internet about gear, but it's hard to cover everything. But, TapeOp is great for filling in the gaps. I keep telling myself I should keep saving up for some h...

Looking for (another) decent stereo(dual) compressor?
Hello everybody. I'm in the market for a (new or used) sterer/dual compressor; under $300. Most of my gear is in the low-mid to high-mid range. I currently have a DBX 160A, RNC, ART VLA II, Drawmer MX30, & HHB Fatman. I like my gear, but i'm always in the hunt for something else to add to the arsena...

Tired of my Event 20/20bas???
Hey everybody. I've been thinking of an upgrade/improvement over my Event 20/20bas. I've had them for about 8 years now, but I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a better set of monitors. I've been looking at KRKs, Mackies, the Event ASP8, and other types. My budget is under $1000 for the pair (as f...

Problem fixed. It ended up being a defective display and EPROM chip. I talked to the tech who fixed it, and he stated that he has fixed this problem before with 1st generation Masterlinks (which mine is; built in 2000). The later generations had this correction made during the initial manufacturing....

Alesis Masterlink screen display
Having trouble with the screen (LCD) display. All the "digits" light up at the same time causing screen to be unreadable. Everything else (ie hard drive, CD burner, etc..) seem to be working OK. It plays OK, plays CD's ok, and even seems to be able to record. Maybe the display is defective. Has this...

I appreciate the input people. It's nice to have comments from those who have used the gear. I've got a small handful of compressors that I use already, but I'm always up for adding some variety. Most of gear that I look for falls into a budget of $250 to $350. And that's usually used, street prices...

LA Audio compressors
I've been looking at one of their compressors. Does anybody have any of their gear? Any other thoughts on them? I don't really know too much about them, and some of my searches have come up blank.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks Joel for the info. It helps a lot. There are so many smaller companies out there that make great gear, but they just don't have the monetary resources to either have them advertised up the wazoo, or to make them so available that testing them out in a store is easy. Plus, I wish I had the cas...

BSS Audio Opal series
Anybody have any info about this company, and it's Opal series?
I've tried to do some searches, but nothing too useful came up. The only thing I could tell is that the Opal series is their lower end models.
Has anybody used their gear (e.g. compressors)? I've been looking at the dual one.
Thanks.

same here. but, i'm going to add that i'm too lazy to learn a computer recording program.Shawn1272 wrote:I mix thru a console. I've mixed in the box and I hate it. I need real faders and pots. I also listen more and watch less when I use a console.
