Yes, that sounds like a really cool trick... I find the 635a's best attribute to be its omni-ness. That, and its robust build. I seldom if ever use it as the only mic on anything. A friend of mine used to love them for close-mic'ing toms, since they have such an extreme high and low frequency roll o...

Here's a link to a pic from the more recent setup. This is not the setup you hear in the link above, though. http://northcountrypunk.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/img_9334_2.jpg It's an Oktavamod MK-219 at the low front, a Shure SM-78 on the snare-side, and an EV-635a on the overhead. The 635's an omn...

So, after about a million years, I suddenly realized that I've had a version of a song using this technique up on our band's Bandcamp page for some time... I got your link RIGHT HERE, pally: http://andysmash.bandcamp.com/track/dark-days This track I recorded way back while the thread was still fresh...

I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but I recently received a Tapco C-12 mixer on long-term loan. Because, you know, there were 3 extra square inches available in my living space and I needed something to fill them.

Sheesh. I should start a "latest gear you've unloaded" thread...

I know absolutely nothing about Toyotas. Closest I ever came to owning a Toyota was a Geo Metro, and that thing never broke until it pulled itself apart during an abrupt U-turn on 104. So I never had the "joy" of having to fix it. But to remain ON -topic, I've got a Tascam M-30 that's in almost-like...

I've been safely ensconced right here under my rock, where I belong. :)

Also, I can now tell you more about late 1990s Chrysler minivan brakes than either you or I ever wanted to know.

I'm sure I'm about half a year too late here, and I'm sure I've blathered on and on and on and on and on and on about it, but I utterly love my Ramsa WR-S. It's got a distinctive sound to it, and the EQ section is... um... usable. Both of which could be good or bad, I suppose. I'm feeling limited by...

Well, you've got your scale, attribution, and source taken care of, so from a cartographer's point of view you're batting .800. :D

Now THIS sounds like a SERIOUSLY COOL TECHNIQUE.

I can't wait to try it out.
Of course, I'm not sure it'll work with my drum "room" (a.k.a. basement, complete with shop tools in the far back).

Also, Mr. Vvv, I didn't see a North arrow on your little map there.

Just trying to remix prerecorded tracks on a mac. Sounds fantastic; effects available are awesome, easy to use, and especially easy to run in parallel, which is wonderful. But it's a bad sign when the software doesn't do what the manual says it will do when a given button is pressed. Some people hav...

I have an old Boss Dr. Rhythm that I like to use for myself. I program in the nearest approximation of the actual beat that I can find, get a scratch track of one instrument (usually guitar, sometimes bass) and play 'solo' to that. My brain hears the stilted rhythms and says "they're playing it wron...

Never stopped using tape.

I've been experimenting with Reason lately, and have come to the realization that computer-based recording is for other people.
